Product description

The amber plastic bottle with a pump dispenses serums, liquid emulsions and oils in small doses without unscrewing the closure. This medicine bottle is made of PET, is lightweight and does not break when dropped, so it suits both the bathroom and travel. The amber colour dims the light, so light-sensitive contents, such as vegetable oils or serums with active ingredients, are better protected than in clear packaging.

The glossy white and silver pump closes the bottle and dispenses at the same time. The contents do not come into contact with hands or air to the same extent as in an open bottle, which you will appreciate especially with emulsions and serums containing a water phase. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The certificate for direct contact with food applies to the bottle on its own; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

  • Face and eye serums – the pump always releases approximately the same small amount, without pouring or scooping with a finger.
  • Liquid emulsions and light lotions – the pump handles thin to medium-thick textures that flow freely.
  • Face and hair oils, oil serums – the amber bottle limits the access of light and the pump prevents spills.
  • Samples and travel packs – a volume of 30 ml is enough for trying out a recipe or for several weeks of using a serum.

Dispensing and filling

One press releases approximately 0.14 ml. Before first use, prime the pump by pressing it several times until the dip tube and the pump head fill with the product. The pump cannot reliably draw up thick creams and gel textures; for these formulations, a jar or packaging with a wider neck is more suitable.

The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume, that is, the volume the packaging is designed for in normal filling. The total volume up to the rim of the neck is larger, and the difference provides room for the dip tube of the pump. If you fill it to the rim, part of the contents is pushed out when the pump is screwed on and the neck gets dirty.

Fill the bottle using a narrow funnel or a syringe without a needle. The neck of the medicine bottle is narrow, and when you pour directly from a beaker, the contents easily run down the outer wall. Wipe the neck dry before screwing on the pump so that the thread seals properly.

Good to know

Before first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water would introduce a microbial risk into an anhydrous oil or serum. Disinfect the pump on the inside as well: immerse the dip tube in alcohol, press several times, then rinse with clean water and dry.

The bottle should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a high proportion of ethanol, essential oils or solvents, check the behaviour of the packaging and its tightness on a smaller amount of the finished formulation. Fill the bottle only once the contents have cooled, and protect the packaging from heat.

The pump contains a dip tube and an internal mechanism that is difficult to clean perfectly once you have finished using it. When you refill the bottle, replace the pump with a new one or rinse it thoroughly with alcohol, otherwise residues of the old contents may get into the new filling.

Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations of this bottle with closures can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

The PET bottle goes in plastic recycling. The pump is made of several materials, including aluminium parts; before recycling, unscrew it from the bottle and sort it separately according to local options.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber 30 ml plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber colour of the PET dims the passage of light, and light-sensitive contents are better protected in it than in clear packaging. It is therefore suitable for vegetable oils, serums with active ingredients and extracts. However, it does not provide complete protection from light, so do not leave the packaging in direct sunlight and store it in a cool place.
What consistencies can the 18/415 pump on the 30 ml bottle handle?
The pump is designed for thin to medium-thick liquids that flow freely, for example serums, oils, liquid emulsions and lotions. It cannot reliably draw up thick creams, butters and firmer gels; for these, a jar or packaging with a wider neck is more suitable. With thicker emulsions, check the dispensing on your specific recipe.
How much does one press of the pump dispense?
One press releases approximately 0.14 ml. The actual dose depends on the thickness of the contents and on whether the dip tube is fully primed, so prime the pump by pressing it several times before first use. With thicker emulsions the dose tends to be smaller, so check the number of presses needed per use with your specific recipe.
Is the bottle and pump set suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. The certificate for direct contact with food applies to the amber PET bottle on its own, while the pump is declared for cosmetic and technical use. The bottle with pump is therefore intended for serums, oils, emulsions and other cosmetic products.
Can the bottle with pump be reused?
Yes, the PET bottle can be refilled after washing and disinfecting with alcohol. The pump is harder to clean, as the dip tube and the internal mechanism retain residues of the contents. Rinse it with alcohol and clean water before a new filling. If you change the recipe or the previous contents were oil-based, it is safer to replace the pump with a new one.
