Product description

This amber plastic 30 ml medicine bottle with a white and gold fine mist sprayer is used for filling and applying liquid cosmetics in a small pack. The amber tint of the PET reduces the passage of light and helps protect light-sensitive contents, such as hydrosols, facial toners with active ingredients or refreshing mists. The bottle is lightweight and unbreakable, so it suits a handbag, travel and use as a sample for customers.

With each press, the sprayer releases a small amount of liquid in tiny droplets. The contents are applied evenly to the skin or hair and do not run. The glossy white and gold top sets the pack apart from ordinary white closures and suits products that are sold or given as gifts. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. You will find the declarations of conformity for both components with the product.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial toners and hydrosols – water-based contents are dispensed evenly from the sprayer and the amber PET protects them from light.
  • Refreshing and setting mists – small doses allow the product to be applied over make-up without smudging.
  • Low-viscosity hair sprays – leave-in toning or refreshing sprays for the scalp and lengths.
  • Travel and sample packs – a volume of 30 ml is enough for testing a formulation over several weeks.

How to fill and dispense

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brim-full volume is larger because it includes the space up to the neck. This difference is a reserve for the sprayer tube and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill only up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents may overflow through the neck when the sprayer is screwed on.

One press releases approximately 0.14 ml, which is an indicative value for water-based contents. With thicker liquids the dose is usually smaller and the spray coarser. The sprayer sits on the neck of the bottle; closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. If you are making your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Before the first filling, check that the sprayer tube reaches the bottom of the bottle and does not bend. If it is too long and presses against the bottom, shorten it with a diagonal cut so that it draws up the product down to the last millilitres.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Moisture in the tube or on the walls would dilute the contents and increase the risk of microbial contamination, especially in water-based formulations without sufficient preservation.

The packaging can be reused. After emptying, simply rinse it with warm water, spray clean water through the sprayer several times to remove residues from the tube and nozzle, and disinfect it again. With fragrances, we recommend filling the same type of contents, as plastic can partly retain the smell of the previous filling.

Water-based and low-viscosity contents are dispensed from the sprayer without problems. Oils and thick serums spray less well, may clog the nozzle and usually call for a different type of closure. The PET bottle is not intended for hot filling; let the contents cool to room temperature before filling.

The bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food. The sprayer does not have one, so the set is not approved for food and is intended for cosmetic products. The bottle is made of PET, and the sprayer combines polypropylene and aluminium. For recycling, separate the two parts and hand them in according to material.

Concentrated essential oils, fragrance compositions at a high dose and organic solvents may soften or cloud the plastic or damage the sprayer seal. For such formulations, we recommend a trial filling and a check of the packaging after several weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber plastic 30 ml medicine bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber tint of the PET reduces the passage of light into the bottle and helps protect hydrosols, extracts and fragrances that are sensitive to light. However, it is not a complete barrier, so we recommend continuing to keep the contents out of direct sunlight. For contents that do not react to light, the tint does no harm; it only hides the colour and the level of the filling.
How much actually fits into the 30 ml medicine bottle with a sprayer?
Fill it up to the nominal volume of 30 ml, not to the brim of the neck. The space above this level is a reserve for the sprayer tube and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled right up to the neck, the contents overflow when the sprayer is screwed on and part of the filling is lost.
Is the medicine bottle and sprayer set also suitable for food?
No, the set is intended for cosmetics. Only the amber PET bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food. The white and gold sprayer does not have one, so the food declaration does not apply to the assembled set with the sprayer. Both components are suitable for cosmetic products, and you will find the declarations of conformity with the product.
Can the plastic medicine bottle with a sprayer be reused?
Yes, after emptying, rinse the bottle with warm water, spray clean water through the sprayer and disinfect both parts with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. They must be completely dry before refilling. If residues of thicker contents have collected in the tube or nozzle, a short soak in warm water and repeated spraying will help.
What contents are dispensed well from the sprayer on the 30 ml medicine bottle?
Water-based and low-viscosity liquids work best: hydrosols, toners, refreshing mists and hair sprays without an oil phase. With thicker contents, the dose decreases and the spray is coarser. Oils and serums with higher viscosity clog the nozzle and call for a different closure, such as a dropper or a pump.
Can I fill the PET medicine bottle with alcohol-based toners or products containing essential oils?
With usual cosmetic levels of alcohol and essential oils, the PET bottle with a sprayer can be used, but we recommend checking compatibility with a trial filling. After several weeks, check that the plastic has not softened or clouded and that the sprayer still seals and dispenses evenly. Concentrated essential oils and organic solvents do not belong in plastic packaging.
