Product description

Amber plastic medicine bottle, black fine mist sprayer, 30 ml combines an amber PET medicine bottle with a black fine mist sprayer with an 18/415 neck finish. The amber plastic filters light and the sprayer disperses the contents as a fine mist. The set is suitable for facial toners, hydrosols, refreshing sprays, hair sprays and facial and body mists in a travel size. Both components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

The small volume and the sprayer make this bottle well suited to products that are applied in a thin layer over a larger area. One press releases a small measured dose, so the contents are dispensed evenly and without direct contact between the fingers and the neck.

  • Toners and hydrosols – water-based solutions without thickeners pass through the sprayer without problems and are applied directly to the skin or onto a cotton pad.
  • Facial and hair mists – light, thin formulations with moisturising ingredients, or with solubilised essential oils.
  • Alcohol-based sprays – pillow sprays, hand fresheners or room fragrance in a small trial size.
  • Samples and travel size – the 30 ml volume complies with hand luggage limits and is suitable for customer samples.

The sprayer is not intended for thick creams, gels with thickeners or pure oils. Thin oils can be sprayed, but they gradually clog the nozzle. We therefore recommend testing the function with your specific oil formulation in advance.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended with normal filling. The total brimful volume is larger, because it also includes the space up to the neck. This difference provides a reserve for the sprayer dip tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, the contents overflow when the sprayer is screwed on and part of them is lost.

The sprayer dip tube is longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, shorten it with an angled cut so that it ends just above the bottom. The angled cut prevents the tube from sticking to the bottom and the sprayer from ceasing to draw liquid.

A small funnel or a dispensing bottle with a narrow neck works well for filling. After screwing on the sprayer, tighten it by hand, without force, so that the thread seals and the plastic does not deform.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water would dilute the contents and could compromise the preservation. Hot water and a dishwasher are not suitable for the PET bottle.

The PET bottle is lightweight and does not break when dropped, which you will appreciate when travelling and with products used in the bathroom. It tolerates water-based and diluted alcohol-based contents without problems. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, or with high-percentage alcohol, we recommend leaving the filled packaging to stand for several weeks and checking whether the plastic turns cloudy or soft, or whether the fragrance of the contents changes.

The bottle must not be filled with hot contents. At higher temperatures PET loses its shape, so let the hydrosol, decoction or toner cool to room temperature before filling.

The bottle itself has a certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer does not have such a certificate. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics. If you need the bottle for a food purpose, combine it with a closure that has its own food-contact certificate.

The bottle has a G18x3 thread and can also be used with other closures for the same neck from the Handymade range. If you combine them yourself, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

If you refill the packaging, always wash and disinfect it first. Spray clean water through the sprayer several times to rinse the dip tube and the nozzle, and leave it to dry disassembled. For disposal, the bottle goes in plastic recycling as PET; the sprayer is made of polypropylene.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber plastic bottle with a sprayer protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber PET dampens visible light and reduces its effect on the contents. For hydrosols, toners with vitamins or extracts and sprays with essential oils, this is an advantage over clear plastic. However, the bottle is not completely opaque, so store the finished product away from direct sunlight in this packaging as well.
Can the 30 ml bottle with a sprayer be used for a hydrosol or toner?
Yes, water-based solutions without thickeners are the most suitable type of contents for this sprayer. Hydrosols and toners are sprayed evenly as a fine mist and dispensed without hands touching the neck. Because these are water-based products, they must be properly preserved. The packaging alone does not ensure microbial stability.
Is the sprayer on the 30 ml bottle suitable for oil?
We do not recommend pure oils for this sprayer. Very thin oils can be sprayed, but the nozzle gradually clogs and the spray stops being even. Oil-based products are better suited to a bottle with a dropper or a pump. If you still want to spray an oil, test it on a single bottle before a larger production run.
How much liquid fits into the 30 ml bottle with a sprayer?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 30 ml, not to the brim. Above this level there is a reserve for the sprayer dip tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If it is filled up to the neck, the contents overflow when the sprayer is screwed on and there is a risk of leakage during transport.
Is the set of a plastic bottle with a black sprayer suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. Only the amber PET bottle has a certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer does not have one. The set is therefore intended for cosmetic products. For food use, combine the bottle with a closure that has its own food-contact certificate.
