Product description
A brown plastic bottle with a white tamper-evident cap is a ready-to-fill set for liquid preparations that need to be protected from light. Brown PET reduces light transmission to the contents, is lightweight and does not break on impact, making it suitable for products customers carry with them or that are shipped by post. The cap with a tamper-evident ring makes it immediately clear upon first opening that the packaging has not been previously opened.
The set with a nominal volume of 115 ml is suitable for liquid products with a smaller daily dose: facial and body oils, herbal tinctures and infusions, tonics or solutions of active substances for further processing. Both the bottle and cap are approved for direct food contact, so the set as a whole can also be used for homemade flavoured oils, syrups or herbal drops. For cosmetic products, the packaging material is declared as suitable.
Key benefits
- Content protection from light – the brown colouring limits light penetration, which helps slow down the oxidation of oils and the fading of coloured or plant-based ingredients.
- Lightweight shatter-resistant packaging – PET is significantly lighter than glass and does not break on impact, which simplifies shipping and reduces the risk of damage to the parcel.
- Tamper-evident ring on the cap – an intact ring shows the customer that the product has not yet been opened.
- Suitable for food and cosmetics – both components of the set are certified for direct food contact and declared as suitable for cosmetic products.
- Ready-to-use combination – the bottle and cap have a matching neck type, so there is no need to search for a closure or test its seal.
How to fill and close the set
The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim. The nominal volume is the quantity for which the packaging is designed for standard filling. The total volume up to the neck is greater, and the difference provides a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents will be pushed towards the thread when closing and the cap will seal less effectively.
For oils and tinctures, leave headspace below the neck according to the nominal volume and tighten the cap by hand, without tools. Over-tightening may damage the thread or prematurely detach the tamper-evident ring.
The cap is screwed onto the neck and tightened until the tamper-evident ring snaps under the rim of the neck. On first opening, the ring detaches and remains on the bottle. The cap is then used as a standard screw closure and can be repeatedly unscrewed and screwed back on.
Other closures with the same neck type, as stated in the specifications, can also be used with the bottle. Ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosage and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial and body oils – vegetable oils and oil serums sensitive to light, where the brown colouring helps maintain oil quality.
- Tinctures and herbal infusions – alcohol tinctures of standard concentration as well as glycerine infusions; with high-percentage alcohol it is advisable to verify material compatibility on a sample.
- Tonics and hydrolats – water-based products in smaller packaging or for travel.
- Liquid soaps and shampoos in travel size – smaller volume for trial or for a travel bag.
- Homemade food products – flavoured oils, syrups, herbal drops and extracts for kitchen use.
Good to know
Before first use, rinse both the bottle and cap, disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave to dry completely. Residual water in the packaging may dilute the contents and promote microbial growth in aqueous products.
PET does not tolerate high temperatures. Fill the contents once cooled, do not sterilise the packaging with boiling water or heat, and do not leave the filled bottle in direct sunlight or near a heat source. At high temperatures, the plastic may deform and the cap will no longer seal properly.
Concentrated essential oils, fragrance compositions and some solvents may degrade plastics over time. For anhydrous products with a high proportion of essential oils, we recommend testing compatibility on a trial sample a few weeks before larger-scale production. Common vegetable oils, aqueous solutions and liquid soaps are used in PET without any issues.
The bottle can be used repeatedly if thoroughly washed and dried. A cap with a detached tamper-evident ring no longer provides tamper protection, so when selling a finished product, use a new cap.
The label is applied to the cylindrical part of the bottle. Self-adhesive labels adhere well to the smooth PET surface; simply degrease the surface before applying. Both the bottle and cap are made of PET and, once emptied and rinsed, belong in the sorted plastic waste collection.
