Product description
Plastic bottle, apothecary bottle, brown, cream pump dispenser with black top, 115 ml
Brown plastic bottle with a cream pump dispenser is a ready-made complete packaging set prepared for filling. It is intended for cosmetic products with a creamy to moderately thick liquid consistency – facial and body creams, body lotions, thicker serums, gels and emulsions. The brown colouring reduces light transmission and helps protect light-sensitive contents; PET is lightweight and break-resistant, making it suitable for use in the bathroom and when travelling.
The set is useful for personal-use products, gift sets or small-scale production where you need the same packaging for multiple units of a product.
What the set offers
- Light protection – brown PET lets through less light than clear plastic, which helps with products containing vegetable oils, extracts or vitamins that light gradually degrades.
- Hygienic dispensing – the contents are not scooped out with fingers or a spatula, no impurities from hands enter the bottle, which reduces the burden on the preservative system of the finished product.
- Repeatable dose – each press releases approximately the same amount, so both the customer and the producer know how much product is being used.
- Low weight and durability – plastic will not break when dropped on the floor; the packaging is safe for use in the shower or when travelling.
- Uniform appearance – the brown bottle with a black pump dispenser pairs well with dark or natural-looking labels.
What products is it intended for
The cream pump dispenser is designed for more viscous contents. It works well with creams, body lotions, thicker serums and gels that do not spread after dispensing and at the same time are not so thick that they block the mechanism. Very fluid contents such as tonics, hydrolats or pure oils may drip freely from the dispenser or spray when pressed; a different type of closure is more suitable for these. Thick butters and solid balms, on the other hand, cannot be drawn up through the tube by the dispenser.
The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact; the pump dispenser does not have such a certificate, therefore the set as a whole is not intended for food.
On first use, press the pump dispenser several times without dispensing until the tube fills and product starts to come out. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for under standard filling conditions. The actual physical volume up to the rim of the neck is larger; the difference provides a reserve for the pump tube and for the space occupied by the lower part of the closure when screwed on. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume, not to the rim. Overfilling will cause the contents to be pushed out through the neck when the pump is attached, contaminating the thread.
Good to know
Before first filling, we recommend washing the bottle with warm water, optionally disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving it to dry completely upside down. Residual water in the packaging dilutes the preservative system and shortens the shelf life of the product. The pump dispenser is cleaned by rinsing with warm water and then pumping out the water completely.
This is a standard pump dispenser with a dip tube, not an airless system. After each press, air enters the bottle, so any product filled into it must be properly preserved like any emulsion in a standard package. A small residue will always remain at the bottom that the tube cannot draw up; bear this in mind when declaring the quantity for products sold commercially.
PET is resistant to water, emulsions and common cosmetic raw materials. For anhydrous products with a high proportion of essential oils, citrus oils or solvents, we recommend verifying the material's resistance and the pump's seal on a test sample before filling a larger batch. A compatibility test of the specific formulation with the pump dispenser is also worthwhile: a cream that is too thick will clog it, while one that is too fluid will leak.
Do not expose the bottle to heat or hot filling. PET deforms at higher temperatures, so allow emulsions to cool to room temperature before filling.
The bottle is made from PET, the pump dispenser from PP; when recycling, both parts should therefore be separated and sorted by material.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations of this bottle with different closures are available in the Handymade range. When creating your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing action and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
