Product description

The amber plastic bottle with fine mist sprayer, 115 ml, is a ready-made combination of packaging and closure for liquid preparations applied by spraying: facial toners, hydrosols, face and hair mists, fresheners or hand disinfectant solutions. The medicine bottle shape with a narrow neck sits well in the hand, and the amber PET filters light, so contents sensitive to sunlight keep in better condition than in a clear bottle. The plastic is light and unbreakable, which you will appreciate for packaging that travels in a handbag, to the gym or on trips.

The sprayer with 18/415 neck finish is white and silver, glossy, with a long dip tube reaching into the bottle. The sprayer is made of polypropylene with an aluminium part, and the bottle is made of PET. The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

  • Toners and hydrosols – thin water-based solutions spray evenly and are applied directly to the skin without a cotton pad.
  • Hair and body mists – light water-based or water-and-alcohol sprays with hydrosol, glycerine or dissolved active ingredients.
  • Disinfectant and refreshing sprays – solutions for hands, yoga mats and shoes, and room fresheners with a fragrance composition in alcohol.
  • Samples and travel packs – the packaging will not break in luggage and the volume is enough for a longer trip.

How the sprayer dispenses

One press releases approximately 0.14 ml of contents as a fine mist. For a facial toner, two to three presses are therefore enough, so the contents are used sparingly and applied evenly. The sprayer draws the liquid up through a tube from the bottom. When using it, hold the bottle upright or only slightly tilted, otherwise it will draw in air when the bottle is nearly empty.

Once screwed on, the tube should reach all the way to the bottom. If it is too long and bends, shorten it with a straight cut so that it draws up the last millilitres.

The sprayer is designed for thin, watery liquids. Thick serums, lotions and pure vegetable oils come out of it as a stream, and over time they clog the mechanism. Only very thin oil blends are suitable, and only after you have tested them yourself.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume of 115 ml is the amount the bottle is intended for with normal filling. The physical volume up to the neck is slightly larger. This difference is a reserve for the tube and the body of the sprayer, which push part of the contents upwards once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim, so that nothing leaks through the thread after the sprayer is fitted.

The neck of the medicine bottle is narrow, so a funnel with a narrow spout or a syringe without a needle works well for filling. Tighten the sprayer by hand, without tools, so that the thread and the seal are not damaged.

Good to know

Before the first filling, rinse the bottle and the sprayer with clean water, disinfect them with isopropanol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Flush the sprayer by spraying alcohol through it several times and then clean water. Residual water in the packaging puts a strain on the preservative of the finished product.

Heat and filling. PET is not intended for hot filling. Let the water phase, toner or infusion cool to room temperature before filling, otherwise the bottle may become deformed.

Essential oils and solvents. The packaging is not intended for aggressive chemicals. For preparations with a higher proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or undiluted alcohol, we recommend testing them in one bottle for several weeks and checking whether the plastic turns matte or soft, or whether the sprayer seal starts to leak.

The amber 115 ml bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food. The sprayer has no such assessment, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic and technical preparations, not for food use.

Reuse. The bottle and the sprayer can be used again after thorough washing and disinfection. When changing to a recipe with a different fragrance, bear in mind that PET may retain part of the previous fragrance.

Recycling. The bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of polypropylene with an aluminium part. Separate them before disposal and dispose of them according to the material.

Closures and sprayers with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber plastic bottle with sprayer protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber colour of the PET filters part of the light and suits toners and hydrosols, which lose their fragrance or effectiveness faster in light. It is not complete protection like opaque packaging, so store the finished product away from direct sunlight and protect it from heat.
Can the 115 ml bottle with sprayer be used for oil?
It is not suitable for pure oil, because the sprayer releases it as a stream and the mechanism gradually becomes clogged. The sprayer is designed for thin water-based and water-and-alcohol liquids such as toners, hydrosols or refreshing mists. For body oil sprays, choose a sprayer designed for oil formulations or a different type of dispensing.
How much liquid does the amber bottle with sprayer dispense per press?
One full press releases approximately 0.14 ml of contents. For treating the face with a toner, this means two to three presses, and for hair or body more as needed. The dose figure is also useful when designing a recipe, when you need to estimate how many applications a customer gets from a 115 ml pack.
Is the 115 ml plastic bottle with sprayer suitable for alcohol sprays?
Yes, water-and-alcohol solutions, for example hand disinfectant or a room fragrance in alcohol, are commonly used in this set. For a high proportion of undiluted ethanol or concentrated essential oils, we recommend a trial filling for several weeks, because PET and the sprayer seal are not intended for aggressive chemicals.
Why is the 115 ml bottle not filled to the brim?
Because the nominal volume of 115 ml allows for a reserve for the tube and the body of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents in warmer weather. If you fill the bottle up to the neck, the liquid is pushed out through the thread when the sprayer is screwed on and runs down the outside of the packaging. Filling up to the nominal volume prevents this.
