Product description

A 30 ml amber plastic bottle with a white fine mist sprayer makes a ready-to-use set for thin liquids that are applied as a spray. Amber PET reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, which you will appreciate with hydrosols, toners and other water-based products containing light-sensitive ingredients. The bottle is lightweight and shatterproof, so it suits a handbag, travel or use as a sample pack for customers. The sprayer fits the bottle neck without any adapters. Simply fill the bottle and screw the sprayer on.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the bottle has a certificate for direct food contact. The sprayer does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic and technical use.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial toners and hydrosols – low-viscosity water-based products applied as a spray onto the face or a cotton pad.
  • Refreshing sprays – for skin, hair or textiles.
  • Alcohol-based sprays – eaux de parfum and products based on ethanol.
  • Travel and sample packs – the small volume and unbreakable material are an advantage when sending samples and when packing hand luggage.

How the set works

The sprayer works as a mechanical pump. Pressing the head draws the liquid up through the tube and releases it as a fine mist. One dose is approximately 0.07 ml, so toners and refreshing sprays can be applied in measured amounts without forming a dripping layer. The sprayer is designed for thin water-based or alcohol-based liquids. Oils, thick serums and emulsions will clog the pump or come out in a stream.

The tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before the first assembly, shorten it so that it reaches just to the bottom. It is advisable to cut the end at an angle so that it does not stick to the bottom and the bottle can be emptied down to the last drops.

Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not up to the neck. The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for during normal filling. The total volume of the bottle up to the brim is larger, and this difference is a reserve for the tube and the lower part of the sprayer. If the bottle is overfilled, the liquid will overflow through the neck when you screw the sprayer on.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Any water left in the bottle would dilute the contents and could impair the microbiological stability of a water-based product.

Both PET and polypropylene tolerate common water-based and mildly alcohol-based formulations. With a high proportion of ethanol, undiluted essential oils or solvents, the plastic may turn cloudy, soften or absorb the scent over time, so test compatibility on one piece before a larger batch. Do not fill the bottle with a hot liquid or dry it over direct heat, as PET changes shape at higher temperatures.

The set can be reused. After emptying, put the tube into clean water and press the head several times, then pump it dry until the remaining liquid has come out of the mechanism. The scent of the previous contents may not be completely removed from the plastic, so a clean set is better for a new type of product.

With alcohol-based sprays and products containing essential oils, check the tightness and the behaviour of the plastic after several weeks of storage. A change in the colour, scent or shape of the bottle means that the formulation is not suitable for PET packaging.

Other closures with the same neck type from the Handymade range also fit the bottle. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does an amber plastic bottle with a sprayer protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber colour of PET reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, similarly to amber glass. It is therefore suitable for hydrosols, toners with vitamins or sprays with essential oils, which lose their scent and effectiveness faster in light. The protection is not complete, so it is still advisable to store the bottle out of direct sunlight.
Can I fill a plastic bottle with a sprayer with oil or serum?
No, the sprayer is designed for thin water-based or alcohol-based liquids. The pump cannot draw up oils and thicker serums evenly; they come out in drops or a stream, and the mechanism gradually clogs. For oil-based products, use the same bottle with a dropper or another closure with the same neck type.
Is a 30 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer suitable for an alcohol-based spray?
In most cases yes, but with a high proportion of ethanol you need to test it with your specific formulation. Both PET and polypropylene tolerate diluted alcohol, but with long-term contact with concentrated ethanol or undiluted essential oils the plastic may turn cloudy or soften. We recommend filling one piece and checking the tightness, colour and scent after several weeks.
How much liquid actually fits into a 30 ml bottle with a sprayer?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 30 ml. The physical volume up to the brim is slightly larger, but this reserve is taken up by the tube and the lower part of the sprayer. If you fill it up to the neck, the liquid will overflow when you screw the sprayer on, so measure the amount with a measuring cup or leave some free space below the neck.
Can I use a plastic bottle with a sprayer for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. Only the amber PET bottle has a certificate for direct food contact, while the white sprayer is declared for cosmetic and technical use only. This set is therefore not recommended for homemade food sprays, for example for oil or vinegar.
