Product description

A ready-to-use dropper set: a glass bottle with a capacity of 50 ml made from milky translucent frosted glass, a plastic dropper insert fitted into the neck, and a white ribbed cap with a safety closure against accidental opening. Suitable for essential oils, fragrance blends, oil serums, facial and massage oils, tinctures, and all preparations that are measured by drops and should not be poured freely.

The frosted milky glass diffuses direct light while letting the contents show through faintly, so you can see how much product remains in the bottle. The dropper insert dispenses drop by drop without any additional tools, and the safety cap prevents the closure from loosening on its own during transport. The complete set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What the set contains

  • Glass bottle 50 ml – milky translucent frosted glass that does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils and can be washed and disinfected repeatedly.
  • Plastic dropper insert – a long polypropylene insert that slides into the neck after filling. When the bottle is tilted, it dispenses the contents drop by drop, making it easy to dose even concentrated raw materials.
  • Safety cap – a white ribbed polyethylene cap that cannot be opened by simply turning. The ribbing improves grip even with greasy hands.

All three parts are designed for the same neck type, so they fit together precisely. Closures with the same neck type (listed in the product parameters) and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range; for custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance and container behaviour with the specific formulation.

What the set is suitable for

The 50 ml capacity and drop-by-drop dispensing make this set a packaging solution primarily for:

  • Essential oils and fragrance blends – a larger working or retail bottle where the raw material is measured by drops and the safety closure protects against accidental opening.
  • Oil serums and facial oils – blends of plant oils with active ingredients that are applied in small amounts; the dropper insert measures them without any additional tools.
  • Massage and body oils in travel size – the safety cap will not loosen on its own in a bag.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass is resistant to alcohol and the dropper allows an exact number of drops to be measured.
  • Samples and test batches – the frosted glass gives the packaging a finished appearance even without a label, while the fill level remains visible.

The set is not approved for direct contact with food and is intended for cosmetics. For home-made oils, syrups or food extracts, we therefore recommend choosing packaging with food-grade certification.

Nominal volume and filling headspace

The bottle has a nominal volume of 50 ml, which is the amount the packaging is designed for during standard filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger; the exact figure can be found in the product parameters. The difference between them provides headspace for the dropper insert and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim: the inserted dropper displaces part of the volume and a product poured right up to the neck would overflow when the dropper is inserted.

First fill the bottle to the nominal volume, then insert the dropper with even pressure until it seats fully, and finally tighten the cap. If the dropper slides out when the bottle is opened, the product flows in a stream rather than drop by drop.

What is useful to know when filling and using

Preparation before first use. We recommend washing the bottle, rinsing it, disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving it to dry completely with the neck facing down. The dropper insert and cap are plastic, so do not boil or sterilise them with hot air; rinsing with alcohol and drying is sufficient.

Glass and heat. Glass handles heat well, but not sudden temperature changes. Do not pour a hot oil phase or a freshly melted preparation into a cold bottle; let it cool to at least lukewarm first.

Plastic and concentrated raw materials. The polypropylene dropper insert and polyethylene cap are a common choice for essential oils. For long-term storage of undiluted compositions, citrus oils or preparations with a high proportion of solvents, however, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the plastic parts with the specific formulation. With undiluted essential oils, tighten the cap and store the bottle upright so the contents do not remain in the dropper.

The safety cap only works as intended when it is fully tightened. After each use, tighten it all the way; otherwise the bottle opens like a standard closure.

Dispensing. Thicker oils and serums drip more slowly than essential oils or alcohol tinctures. For very thick preparations, such as those with a higher proportion of castor oil, the dropper insert may be too slow and a bottle with a pump or a wider neck may be more suitable.

Labelling. The frosted glass has a smooth cylindrical body to which both paper labels and transparent film adhere well. Label dimensions can be found in the product parameters.

Reuse. The glass bottle can be washed and used repeatedly. The dropper insert may deform slightly after being pulled out, so when changing the contents we recommend replacing it with a new one to ensure a proper seal and even dispensing.

Recycling. The glass part goes into glass recycling; the dropper insert and cap are plastic and are sorted separately from glass.

Frequently asked questions

Does the milky frosted glass protect the contents from light?
Partially. Frosted milky glass scatters and diffuses direct light, but it does not provide full protection the way brown or blue glass does. For standard oil serums and fragrance blends stored away from direct sunlight, it is sufficient. For preparations highly sensitive to light, for example those with a high proportion of unstable active ingredients, we recommend storing them in this bottle in the dark or choosing dark glass.
How do you open the safety cap?
The safety cap cannot be opened by turning alone; the lock must first be released by pressing the cap downward and only then rotating it. The mechanism makes accidental opening difficult and prevents the closure from loosening on its own during transport. When closing, tighten the cap fully – only then is the bottle properly sealed and the safety mechanism active.
Is the 50 ml glass dropper bottle suitable for essential oils?
Yes, the set is designed specifically for essential oils and fragrance blends. Glass does not react with essential oils, the dropper insert dispenses them drop by drop, and the safety closure protects against accidental opening. For long-term storage of undiluted citrus oils or blends with a high proportion of solvents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the plastic dropper insert and cap with the specific raw material.
Can the dropper insert be removed and the bottle reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be washed and refilled repeatedly. The dropper insert is fitted tightly in the neck and can be removed by gripping it with a fingernail or a flat tool. It may deform slightly after removal, so when refilling we recommend fitting a new dropper insert to ensure the bottle seals and dispenses evenly.
Should the 50 ml bottle be filled right to the brim?
No, the bottle should be filled to the nominal volume of 50 ml, not up to the neck. The total brim-full volume is slightly larger and the difference serves as headspace for the dropper insert and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. A bottle filled right to the brim will overflow when the dropper is inserted and the product will reach the thread, where it may prevent the cap from being tightened properly.
Is this set suitable for food?
No, the set is not approved for direct contact with food. The bottle, dropper insert and cap are all declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, so the set is intended for essential oils, cosmetic oils, serums and tinctures. For home-made food oils, syrups or extracts, choose packaging with food-grade certification.
