Product description

A ready-made kit for products dispensed drop by drop: a glass bottle with a nominal volume of 50 ml, a plastic dropper inserted into the neck, and a black cap with a safety lock. Milky translucent glass reduces direct light, thereby minimising its effect on facial oils, serums with active ingredients, essential oil blends in a carrier oil, or alcoholic tinctures. The contents remain visible in outline when held up to the light, so you can see how much is left.

The kit is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; the declaration of conformity is available with the product. The bottle, dropper and cap are supplied as a single item, so there is no need to search for a closure with the same neck size.

How the kit works

  • Dropper – a plastic insert in the bottle neck that releases the contents one drop at a time when tilted. Suitable for thin contents: oils, oil serums, alcoholic solutions and aqueous solutions without a thickener.
  • Cap with safety lock – a smooth black screw closure with an 18/410 thread that seals the bottle above the dropper.
  • Milky glass – does not react with oils or alcohol and can be repeatedly washed and disinfected.

What it is suitable for

The most common use is for facial and hair oils, oil serums and facial massage blends, where a precise few drops need to be measured out. It works equally well for alcoholic tinctures, herbal macerates in oil, and fragrance concentrates in a carrier oil added to a bath.

The kit is not suitable for thick serums with a gel texture, emulsions or creams. The dropper has a small opening, and thick contents either do not flow through it or are dispensed unevenly. For such preparations, choose a bottle with a pump or a jar.

Nominal volume and volume to the brim

The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and can be found in the product specifications. The difference creates a reserve for the dropper, which occupies some space when inserted into the neck, and for slight expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Therefore, fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, some of the contents will be forced out around the dropper when the cap is closed, leaving the outside of the bottle sticky.

Fit the dropper into the neck only after filling and press it evenly around its entire circumference. Then screw on the cap and turn the bottle upside down to check for leaks.

What is good to know

Before first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry completely. Moisture in the bottle shortens the stability of anhydrous preparations and causes cloudiness in oils. The dropper and cap only need to be rinsed with alcohol and left to dry.

Glass tolerates washing in hot water, but not sudden temperature changes. Do not fill a cold bottle with hot contents – let them cool to at least room temperature first.

The dropper and cap are made of plastic. For undiluted essential oils and contents with a higher proportion of solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the plastic parts with the specific formulation, especially if the preparation is to remain in the bottle for a longer time. Blends diluted in a carrier oil can be dispensed without any issues.

Aqueous and hydrolate preparations without preservatives have a short shelf life in a bottle with a dropper, as the contents come into contact with air each time they are dispensed. Preserve such formulations or use them within a few days.

The bottle can be used repeatedly. After emptying, wash it with warm water and detergent, rinse thoroughly and disinfect in the same way as before the first filling. The dropper may loosen in the neck after repeated removal – replace it in that case. Glass goes into glass recycling; the dropper and cap should be separated and sorted as plastic.

Frequently asked questions

Does milky glass protect the contents from light?
Milky glass reduces direct light, but does not provide complete protection from light. For everyday facial oils and serums stored in a cabinet or on a shaded shelf, this is sufficient. Preparations containing substances that are highly sensitive to light – such as certain vitamins or unstabilised oils – should be filled into amber or blue glass and stored away from daylight.
How much can actually fit in a 50 ml bottle with a dropper?
Fill to the nominal volume of 50 ml. The total volume to the brim is slightly higher, but this space is taken up by the dropper and serves as a reserve for temperature changes. If you fill the bottle to the neck, some of the contents will be pushed out when the dropper is inserted, leaving the outside of the bottle sticky.
Is the dropper suitable for a thick serum or gel?
No, the dropper works only with thin liquids. Thick serums with a gel texture, emulsions and creams do not flow through the small opening or are dispensed irregularly. Choose the kit with a dropper for oils, oil serums, tinctures and aqueous solutions without a thickener. Fill thicker preparations into a bottle with a pump or a jar.
Can an alcoholic tincture be filled into the bottle with a dropper?
Yes, glass is resistant to alcohol and the dropper dispenses the tincture precisely. We recommend checking the plastic dropper and cap after a few weeks to see whether they have changed shape or are no longer airtight. For undiluted essential oils and solvents, test the behaviour of the plastic parts with the specific formulation before filling a larger batch.
How to clean the bottle with a dropper before reuse?
Wash the bottle with warm water and detergent, rinse thoroughly and disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Remove the dropper from the neck, rinse it with alcohol and allow all parts to dry completely. Traces of water in oil preparations cause cloudiness and shorten their stability. Do not reuse a loose or deformed dropper – replace it with a new one.
