Product description

This is a ready-made packaging and closure set: a glass bottle made of milk (frosted) glass with a capacity of 50 ml and a black aluminium screw cap. The set is intended for filling liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products dispensed by pouring or applying from the bottle. It is particularly suitable for facial and body oils, oil-based serums, tonics, hydrolats, tinctures and fragrance compositions in smaller packaging. Frosted glass has a uniform, clean appearance and transmits light only partially. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

Why choose this combination

  • Glass is inert – it does not react with aqueous, alcoholic or oil-based contents and does not absorb fragrances, making it suitable for essential oils, fragrance compositions and alcohol-containing tinctures.
  • Frosted surface – the glass is semi-transparent, the contents are visible as an outline and fill level, while details are concealed. The product thus appears cohesive even without dark glass.
  • Aluminium cap with sealing insert – the metal shell holds its shape and the insert seats on the rim of the neck, sealing the bottle. The black colour on frosted glass creates a contrast that suits minimalist labels.
  • Small volume – 50 ml is a practical size for concentrated products dispensed by drops or in small amounts, for samples and trial batches before moving to larger packaging.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for during standard filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is the headspace for the closure, any dropper or pump, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents will be forced onto the thread when closing and the cap will not seal.

Using the set in practice

The bottle with a solid cap is used where the contents are poured directly onto the palm, a cotton pad or into another container. For more precise dispensing of serums and oils, a dropper or pump with the same neck type is more suitable than the cap; closures with this neck and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

The cap is tightened by hand until the insert seats on the neck. Aluminium is a softer metal than steel, so over-tightening can deform the cap shell and the seal will deteriorate.

Before first filling, wash and disinfect both the bottle and the cap with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the packaging shortens the stability of anhydrous products and burdens the preservation system of aqueous formulations.

Good to know

  • Glass and temperature – glass tolerates heat but not a sudden change in temperature. Allow the hot phase to cool to at least lukewarm before filling, or preheat the bottle, otherwise there is a risk of cracking.
  • Alcoholic and fragrant contents – with tinctures, alcoholic tonics and pure essential oils, it is worth checking in the first few days after filling whether the cap insert holds and the contents are not leaking onto the thread.
  • Reuse – the glass bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. If the cap insert is compressed or the shell is deformed, replace the closure.
  • Labelling – the frosted glass surface is uniform and labels adhere well to it.
  • Recycling – the bottle belongs in glass recycling, the aluminium cap in metals. Separate them before sorting.

The set is not declared for contact with food. Use it for cosmetic products, not for household oils, syrups or extracts intended for consumption.

Frequently asked questions

Does frosted glass protect the contents from light?
Partially. The frosted surface scatters light and the bottle transmits less than clear glass, but it is not a substitute for amber or blue glass. For sensitive contents, such as oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids or formulations containing vitamin C, we recommend storing the bottle away from direct light.
How much can actually be filled into a 50 ml glass bottle?
It is filled to the nominal volume, i.e. 50 ml. The total volume to the brim is larger, but this space serves as headspace for the closure and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents will reach the thread when closing and the cap will stop sealing.
Is a glass bottle with an aluminium cap suitable for essential oils and tinctures?
Yes. Glass does not react with essential oils or alcohol and does not absorb fragrances, making it more suitable for these contents than plastic. The cap seals the bottle with a sealing insert; with concentrated essential oils, we recommend checking after filling that the contents are not leaking onto the thread.
Can I use a dropper or pump on a 50 ml glass bottle?
Yes, provided the closure has the same neck type as specified in the bottle parameters. The black aluminium cap in the set is intended for pouring; a dropper is suitable for dispensing serums by drops, a pump for creamy textures. Ready-made combinations of the bottle with other closures are available in the Handymade range.
Is a glass bottle with an aluminium cap suitable for food?
No. Neither the bottle nor the cap are declared for contact with food; the set is intended for cosmetic products. For household oils, syrups or herbal extracts, choose packaging that specifies suitability for contact with food in its parameters.
