Product description

The 50 ml glass bottle with treatment pump is a set made of frosted glass and a plastic pump for oil serums, face and massage oils and other liquid oil products that are applied in small doses without unscrewing the cap. The matte glass diffuses light and veils the contents with a frosted look, yet the level remains visible against the light. A volume of 50 ml suits face oils and serums that are dispensed drop by drop and used up before their scent has time to change.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. You will find the declaration of conformity with the product.

What the set consists of

  • 50 ml glass bottle – frosted glass with an 18/410 neck finish, which can be washed and refilled repeatedly.
  • Plastic treatment pump – black head with a tube reaching to the bottom of the bottle. Each press dispenses approximately the same dose.
  • Clear overcap – pump head cover made of PS plastic. It protects the pump opening from dust and from accidental pressing during transport.

How dispensing works

One press dispenses approximately 0.18 ml, that is, a few drops. For the face or beard, one to two presses are usually enough, and for a massage the dose is simply repeated. Unlike a dropper, the neck does not touch your hands or skin and stays clean, without a dried film of oil.

The tube reaches to the bottom, so almost all of the contents can be used up. The remainder that the pump can no longer draw up can be used once the pump is unscrewed.

The pump is designed for liquid oils and serums. Thick balms, butters and heavily thickened oil gels will not pass through it or will clog it. Try oil blends with wax or a higher proportion of butters on a small sample first.

Nominal and brim-full volume

The nominal volume of 50 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the tube and the pump body, which push part of the contents upwards once screwed on. Fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the oil will overflow over the thread when the pump is fitted.

What it is suitable for

  • Face oil serums – small doses, contents veiled by frosted glass and a clean neck match the way serums are used.
  • Face and hair oils – including beard oils and oils for hair ends, where one to two presses are enough.
  • Massage oils in a small pack – a trial or travel pack that can be dispensed with one hand.
  • Cuticle oils and small oil treatments, where a dropper would dispense too much.

The pump is designed for oil consistency. For water-based solutions, toners and emulsions, choose a different type of closure.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Water in an oil product reduces its stability. Rinse the pump with alcohol by pressing it several times and let it dry as well.

Glass is reusable. When changing the product, rinse the pump thoroughly so that fragrances and residues of the previous oil do not mix. For blends with a higher proportion of essential oils or with solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the plastic parts of the pump on a sample, as plastic is not as resistant as glass.

You will find closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations of packaging and closure in the Handymade range. For your own combination, check the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

The glass bottle does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not pour hot oil into it. Let the contents cool to room temperature and only then fit the pump.

At the end of its life, the glass is sorted as glass and the plastic parts of the pump separately as plastic.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the 50 ml glass bottle with treatment pump dispense per press?
One press dispenses approximately 0.18 ml of oil. One to two presses are usually enough for a face serum or beard oil, and for a massage oil the dose is repeated. The actual amount depends on the viscosity of the oil and on whether the tube is filled, so the first presses after filling tend to be weaker.
Does frosted glass protect oils from light?
Only partially. Frosted glass diffuses light and veils the contents, but it does not block light the way amber or blue glass does. You should therefore store light-sensitive oils away from direct sunlight, even in this bottle. The advantage of frosted glass is that the level of the contents remains visible against the light.
Can a thick oil balm be filled into the glass bottle with treatment pump?
No, the treatment pump is designed for liquid oils and serums. It will not draw up balms with wax, butters or heavily thickened oil gels, or it will become clogged by them. For blends that thicken at lower temperatures, for example with a higher proportion of coconut oil, also test dispensing in cooler conditions.
How do I prepare the bottle with pump before the first filling?
Wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the pump with alcohol by pressing it several times and let it dry as well. No water should remain in the packaging, as it reduces the stability of an oil product.
Why is the 50 ml bottle not filled to the brim?
The nominal volume of 50 ml allows for a reserve for the pump. The tube and the pump body push part of the oil upwards once screwed on. If filled to the brim, the contents would overflow over the thread and the neck would stay greasy. The brim-full volume is given in the parameters.
Is the glass bottle with treatment pump suitable for reuse?
Yes, both the glass and the pump can be used repeatedly. Before a new filling, wash and disinfect the bottle and rinse the pump thoroughly so that fragrances and residues of the previous oil do not mix. For blends with a high proportion of essential oils, check the plastic parts of the pump and replace them if they change shape or stiffen.
