Product description

Plastic bottle with a white lever sprayer with a volume of 100 ml is a ready-to-use set for thin liquid preparations applied by spraying over a larger area: onto hair, body, fabric, or household surfaces. The bottle is lightweight and shatterproof, making it suitable for bathroom use. Through the transparent wall you can always see how much contents remain and what the preparation looks like.

The lever sprayer is operated by pressing the lever, not by pressing a fingertip on the nozzle head. For repeated spraying this is more comfortable, which is appreciated with preparations applied in multiple doses in succession. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics and is supplied as a matched pair, so there is no need to search for a closure to fit the bottle neck.

Which preparations is the set suitable for

  • Hair sprays and detanglers – water-based preparations applied along the lengths of hair, where several presses are needed to cover a larger area.
  • Body and refreshing sprays – light water-based or water-alcohol preparations with a thin consistency.
  • Linen and room fragrances – spraying into the air or onto fabric.
  • Cleaning and technical preparations – surface or window sprays in a small, portable size.

The sprayer requires a thin liquid. Thick gels, emulsions and pure oils spray poorly or not at all. With thicker formulations it is therefore advisable to test a sample before filling a full batch.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the quantity for which the bottle is intended under normal filling conditions. Total brim volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the dip tube and sprayer mechanism, which take up some space once screwed in, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Filling all the way to the neck would cause the contents to overflow when attaching the sprayer.

Working with the sprayer

The sprayer dip tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle so that it can be adapted to different containers with the same neck size. On first use, press the lever several times on empty until the mechanism fills with liquid. Only then will the sprayer dispense evenly.

Before screwing on for the first time, trim the dip tube with sharp scissors using an angled cut so that it ends just above the bottom of the bottle. The angled cut prevents the tube from suctioning against the base, and the bottle can be emptied almost to the last dose.

Preparations with undissolved particles, such as plant sediment or pearlescent pigments, may clog the nozzle over time. With such formulations it is recommended to filter the contents before filling. If the nozzle does become blocked, flushing the sprayer with warm water usually helps.

Good to know

Preparation before filling. Wash both the bottle and the sprayer before first use, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry thoroughly. Also spray the disinfectant through the sprayer mechanism so that it reaches the dip tube and nozzle.

PET does not tolerate hot filling and deforms under heat. Preparations made hot should be allowed to cool to room temperature before filling, and the bottle should not be washed with boiling water.

Material sensitivity. PET tolerates water-based and standard water-alcohol preparations. However, concentrated essential oils and strong solvents may damage both the plastic and the sprayer components, so we recommend testing the compatibility of the packaging with your specific formulation on a trial sample.

Closures with the same neck type (stated in the parameters) and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. When combining components yourself, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing performance.

Intended use and recycling. The set is intended for cosmetic and technical preparations and is not approved for contact with food. The bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP. Before handing over for recycling, it is advisable to rinse both parts and separate them.

Frequently asked questions

What is a 100 ml plastic bottle with a lever sprayer used for?
A 100 ml plastic bottle with a lever sprayer is used for thin liquid preparations applied by spraying over a larger area. Typical uses include hair sprays and detanglers, body sprays, linen and room fragrances, and cleaning preparations. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; it is not intended for food contact.
Can a lever sprayer be used to spray oil or gel?
Pure oil and gel generally cannot be atomised into a fine mist by a lever sprayer, as the mechanism is designed for thin water-based liquids. A thicker fill comes out as a stream, in large droplets, or is not drawn up at all. With two-phase and slightly viscous preparations it is worth testing a small sample before filling a full batch.
Can a preparation containing essential oils or alcohol be filled into a PET bottle with a sprayer?
Yes, preparations with essential oils at standard cosmetic dilution and water-alcohol sprays can be filled into a PET bottle with a sprayer. Concentrated essential oils and strong solvents may cause problems. At higher proportions of these ingredients we recommend leaving a test sample in the packaging and monitoring whether the bottle deforms or the sprayer seal fails.
Does a transparent plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, a transparent PET bottle transmits light and does not protect the contents from it. Formulations containing plant extracts, natural colorants, or fragrance components that change color or scent when exposed to light should therefore be stored in a cabinet or away from direct sunlight. The bottle itself should also be kept out of direct sunlight during storage.
Can a plastic bottle with a lever sprayer be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the lever sprayer can be reused after thorough cleaning. The bottle should be washed with warm, not boiling, water and disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. The sprayer should be flushed first with warm water, then with disinfectant, to clean the dip tube and nozzle as well. Both parts must dry completely before the next filling.
