Product description

A plastic bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and a white screw cap is a ready-to-fill set for liquid and slightly viscous cosmetic products. The bottle body is made of transparent PET, making it lightweight, shatter-resistant on impact, and allowing the colour and clarity of the contents to be seen. It is therefore suitable for products used in the bathroom, taken on trips, or shipped by post.

The tall, slender shape fits comfortably in the hand and provides enough surface for a label. The cap closes the neck fully, so the contents are not dispensed through a small opening but poured directly from the bottle. The set is therefore most suited to facial waters, tonics, hydrolats, micellar waters, shower gels, shampoos and body oils, or as a refill for a product with a pump or spray attachment.

What the set is suitable for

  • Aqueous and thin products – facial waters, tonics, hydrolats and micellar waters pour easily from the open neck onto a cotton pad or into the palm.
  • Wash-off products – shower gels, shampoos and liquid soaps with low to medium viscosity. The bottle can be squeezed, though thicker contents flow more slowly through the narrow neck.
  • Oil blends – body, massage and cleansing oils, where the transparent bottle shows the colour of the oil.
  • Refills and travel sizes – a cap without a dispensing mechanism will not come loose during transport through accidental compression.
  • Samples and trial batches – the contents are clearly visible through the transparent wall, making it easier to monitor turbidity, sediment or colour changes during stability tests.

Bottle and cap as a unit

The cap is made of polypropylene and contains a foam sealing liner that seats against the rim of the neck when tightened. The knurled edge makes it easy to open even with wet hands. The white colour is neutral and does not interfere with a coloured label or the contents.

Both the bottle and the cap are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; a declaration of conformity is available with the product. Closures with the same neck type (stated in the product parameters) and other ready-made combinations are available from Handymade.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended to hold under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a margin for the closure and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The headspace below the neck prevents the contents from being forced into the thread when closing and when the bottle warms up, for example during transport.

Preparation and filling

Before first use, both the bottle and the cap are washed in lukewarm water with a cleaning agent and rinsed thoroughly. They are then disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. Any residual water inside the container places an unnecessary burden on the product's preservative system.

PET softens and deforms at higher temperatures. Do not boil the bottle, do not sterilise it with hot steam, and fill the contents only after they have cooled down.

The narrow neck is most conveniently filled using a funnel or syringe, and thick products using a filling bag. After filling, it is sufficient to tighten the cap by hand. Excessive force will not improve the seal and may damage the thread.

What is worth knowing

  • Labelling – the straight cylindrical section of the bottle holds a self-adhesive label without wrinkling. The dimensions needed for label design are given in the product parameters, and the surface should be dry and degreased before application.
  • Recycling – the PET bottle and the polypropylene cap both belong in the sorted plastic waste collection.

Frequently asked questions

Does the transparent plastic 100 ml bottle protect the contents from light?
No, transparent PET transmits light and does not protect the contents from it. For aqueous tonics, shower gels or shampoos this is usually not an issue. For products containing oils prone to oxidation, natural pigments or sensitive active ingredients, it is advisable to store the bottle away from light, for example in a cabinet. Alternatively, packaging made from a coloured material can be used.
Is the plastic 100 ml bottle with cap suitable for oil-based and alcohol-based products?
Yes, PET bottles are commonly used for cosmetic oils as well as for products containing alcohol. Caution is advisable with undiluted essential oils and strong solvents, which may degrade the plastic on prolonged contact; glass is more appropriate for storing these. With a new formulation, it is worth leaving a filled sample for several weeks and checking the shape of the bottle, the seal, and the appearance of the contents.
Can the plastic 100 ml bottle be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the cap can be reused if undamaged. After emptying, wash them, rinse thoroughly, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave to dry completely. Before refilling, it is advisable to inspect the thread and the sealing liner in the cap. A scratched or deformed bottle is best discarded.
Can a closure other than the white screw cap be fitted to the 100 ml plastic bottle?
Yes, closures with the same neck type listed in the product parameters fit the bottle. When replacing the cap with a dispensing closure, the seal should be verified, and for closures with a dip tube, the tube length relative to the bottle height should also be checked. It is equally important to test whether the chosen closure can handle the viscosity of the particular product.
Is the plastic 100 ml bottle with cap suitable for food products?
No, the set is intended for cosmetic products and has no declaration of food-contact suitability. Both the bottle and the cap carry a declaration of suitability for contact with cosmetics. For syrups, home-made oils or herbal extracts, a container that explicitly states food-contact suitability in its parameters must be used.
