Product description

A plastic bottle with a black sprayer and a nominal volume of 100 ml is a ready-made set for preparations applied by spraying — from facial toners and hydrolats to hair sprays and room fragrances. The bottle is made of transparent PET, lightweight, shatter-resistant, and lets you see both the colour and the remaining amount. The mechanical sprayer turns thin liquids into a fine mist and dispenses them in small doses.

The tall, slim shape is easy to hold and fits on a bathroom shelf as well as in a bag. The bottle and sprayer share the same neck type, so the set does not need to be assembled from two separate items and you do not need to check whether the parts are compatible.

What the set is suitable for

  • Water-based and alcohol-based preparations – toners, hydrolats, facial and body mists, hair waters and detangling sprays. The thinner the liquid, the finer the mist.
  • Room and fabric fragrances – pillow sprays, air fresheners and fabric scents where even distribution is required.
  • Household preparations – dilute cleaning solutions and alcohol-based preparations for hands or surfaces.
  • Travel and sample sizes – the lightweight plastic is practical for travel, sports bags and postal shipments.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is intended for cosmetic and technical use and is not intended for food contact.

How the sprayer dispenses

One press delivers approximately 0.14 ml of liquid. The small dose makes it easier to apply an even, thin layer and reduces the preparation running down the skin or hair. On first use, press the sprayer several times without liquid until the mechanism draws liquid up the tube.

Spray quality depends on the viscosity of the contents. Water-based and alcohol-based solutions produce a fine mist. Thick liquids, gels and undiluted oils come out in larger droplets or a stream. Undissolved particles — such as plant material, clays or glitter — can clog the nozzle.

The sprayer tube has a length allowance. If it bends at the bottom after fitting, trim it with scissors so that it ends just above the base. A diagonal cut helps to draw out the contents almost to the last dose.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount for which the bottle is designed under normal filling conditions. Total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the tube and sprayer mechanism, which displace some liquid once fitted, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Overfilling may cause the liquid to overflow through the thread when closing.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling. Wash, rinse and disinfect the bottle with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, then allow it to dry completely. The sprayer is disinfected by flushing: submerge the tube in alcohol and press the mechanism several times. Spray out the remaining alcohol.

Water-based preparations. The sprayer reduces contact between the contents and fingers, but does not replace preservation. Preparations containing water require a preservation system just as they would in any other packaging.

PET does not tolerate high temperatures. Do not fill the bottle with hot liquid and do not sterilise it by boiling — it may deform. Concentrated essential oils and strong solvents may attack the plastic.

Labelling. The straight cylindrical wall allows a label to be applied around the circumference without creasing. The dimensions needed for label design are listed in the parameters. The surface should be dry and degreased before application.

Alternative closure. Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, as well as other ready-made combinations, are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend testing seal integrity, dispensing performance and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

Sorting. The bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP. Before sorting for recycling, separate the sprayer from the bottle.

Frequently asked questions

What products is a 100 ml plastic spray bottle suitable for?
A 100 ml plastic spray bottle is suitable for thin water-based and alcohol-based preparations that are applied by spraying. These include toners, hydrolats, facial and body mists, hair sprays, room fragrances and alcohol-based hand preparations. For thick gels, emulsions and preparations with undissolved particles, a pump or another type of closure is more appropriate.
Can a spray bottle be filled with oil?
Pure oil will not be atomised into a mist by a mechanical sprayer. Due to the higher viscosity, it comes out in larger droplets or a thin stream. Two-phase preparations that are shaken before use behave better, as do very light oils — though these should also be tested with the specific formulation. Pump dispensers or droppers are typically chosen for oil serums and body oils.
Does a transparent plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, transparent PET allows light through and does not protect the contents from it. The advantage is that the colour and remaining amount of the preparation are visible. Preparations containing light-sensitive ingredients — such as hydrolats, plant extracts, vitamins or natural colourants — should be stored away from direct sunlight, for example in a cabinet, or a dark-material packaging should be chosen.
Can a plastic spray bottle be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the sprayer can be used again after thorough cleaning. Wash the bottle with warm water and detergent, rinse it and disinfect with alcohol. Flush the sprayer mechanism with clean water and then with alcohol to ensure no residue from the previous contents remains. Both parts must dry completely before refilling.
Does a PET spray bottle tolerate alcohol and essential oils?
A PET bottle tolerates alcohol solutions and essential oils at typical cosmetic dilutions. Concentrated essential oils and strong solvents may, however, gradually attack the plastic, cause cloudiness or deformation. For preparations with a higher proportion of fragrance ingredients, a several-week compatibility test with a sample in this specific packaging is therefore recommended.
