Before each new filling, the packaging and the spray pump must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, ideally using a suitable alcohol (for example, IPA or ethanol products available on Handymade). Then allow all parts to dry completely in order to minimise the risk of microbial contamination of the new product.

How should I properly clean and disinfect the bottle before reusing it?

Before refilling, we recommend rinsing the bottle with warm water and a suitable cleaning agent, rinsing thoroughly and then disinfecting with alcohol. In practice, it has proven effective to use technical isopropyl alcohol or denatured plant-based ethanol from the Handymade range. After disinfection, allow the packaging and the spray pump to dry naturally at room temperature. Make sure that no water or residues of cleaning agents remain inside, as these could affect the stability and safety of the new fill.

For what type of formulations is the spray pump most suitable?

The spray pump is most suitable for low-viscosity liquid products that need to be applied in the form of a fine mist or aerosol. Typically, these are facial and body sprays, toners, hydrolats, perfume mists and light hair sprays. With thicker emulsions, gels or high-viscosity oil blends, dosing may be impaired, so we recommend always testing new formulas in a small trial batch.

How can I dispose of the glass bottle and spray pump in an eco-friendly way if I no longer want to use them?

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend sorting it for separate collection according to the material indicated in the product parameters. After emptying and basic rinsing, place the glass bottle in the container designated for glass. The plastic components of the spray pump (including the dip tube and head) should be placed in plastic recycling, provided that local waste-sorting rules allow it. Before disposal, remove as much product residue as possible in order to facilitate the recycling process and reduce the load on wastewater treatment plants.
