Product description

This is a ready-made set consisting of a glass bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and a dropper, designed for precise dispensing of liquid cosmetic preparations. The black glossy glass is opaque, protecting the contents from light and helping maintain the stability of light-sensitive substances. The black and gold dropper forms a contrasting yet visually unified combination with the bottle, suitable for private label as well as gift packaging.

The set is particularly suitable for facial serums, oil serums, carrier and botanical oils, hair and beard oil blends, tinctures, or concentrated active solutions where the precise amount applied to the skin matters. The 100 ml volume corresponds to a standard packaging size for body and hair oils or a larger serum format.

Key benefits

  • Light protection – black glass does not transmit light, which is appreciated with oils high in unsaturated fatty acids, essential oils, and active substances sensitive to light.
  • Precise dispensing – the dropper allows the contents to be applied drop by drop, without spilling and without unnecessary finger contact with the contents.
  • Glass durability – glass does not react with essential oils, alcohol-based extracts, or solvents that may degrade certain plastics.
  • Consistent appearance – the glossy black surface and black-and-gold dropper cap form a cohesive whole and carry labels well in light or gold designs.
  • Reusability – both the bottle and dropper can be washed and refilled after emptying.

How the set works

The dropper screws onto the neck of the bottle and seals the contents tightly when fully tightened. When the bulb is pressed and released, liquid is drawn up into the glass tube, which is then dispensed drop by drop. The tube reaches almost to the bottom of the bottle, allowing the remaining contents to be used up without tilting.

The dropper is composed of several materials – a glass tube, a flexible silicone bulb, and plastic and aluminium parts of the cap. This is a suitable combination for standard cosmetic formulations. With a high proportion of essential oils or alcohol, we recommend checking how the bulb behaves after prolonged contact with the contents.

Nominal volume and volume to the brim

For every container, we distinguish two volumes. The nominal volume is the quantity the container is designed for when filled normally. The total brim volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which displaces some liquid when screwed in, and for slight expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow when the dropper is inserted.

When filling oils and serums, leave space beneath the neck for the dropper tube. With the first batch, measure how many millilitres fit in the bottle without overflow, and use this quantity as your fill volume.

Suitable for products such as

  • Facial serums on both water and oil bases – drop-by-drop dispensing corresponds to the typical amount applied to the face.
  • Face and body oils and oil blends with essential oils, where dark glass slows yellowing and rancidity.
  • Beard oils and hair oil serums, where a small amount is applied directly to the ends or scalp.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass is resistant to alcohol and the dropper allows measuring an exact number of drops.
  • Active ingredient concentrates intended to be added to a cream or serum just before use.

The set is not suitable for thick creams, butters, or gels with high viscosity – the tube cannot draw them up and dispensing does not work.

What's good to know

Preparation before first filling. We recommend washing both the bottle and dropper before first use, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allowing them to dry completely. Traces of water in an oil product can cause cloudiness or promote microbial growth.

Opaque glass. Black glass will not show how much contents remain in the bottle, and any change in colour or cloudiness will not be visible through it. For formulations where you want to monitor stability, we recommend keeping a small control sample in clear glass.

Contact with cosmetics and food. The set as a whole is declared as suitable for cosmetic products, and a declaration of conformity is provided with the product. The glass bottle on its own has food contact approval; the dropper does not, so the set as a whole is not intended for food use.

Glass and heat. Glass can withstand normal filling temperatures, but a sudden transition from hot to cold may cause cracking. Allow hot oil phases to cool to at least a lukewarm temperature before filling.

Labelling. The glossy black surface holds self-adhesive labels well. Light, gold, or white print reads best on a dark background.

Closures. If you want to use the bottle with a different closure, select closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters. Ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and the behaviour of the closure with the specific formulation.

Recycling. Once emptied and washed, the glass bottle belongs in the glass recycling stream. The dropper consists of multiple materials and should therefore be recycled separately from the glass.

Tighten the dropper after each use. If left loosely closed, contents may leak from the bulb, and with essential oils the fragrance evaporates more quickly.

Frequently asked questions

Does the black glass dropper bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the black glossy glass is opaque and does not transmit light. It is therefore suitable for oils with short stability, essential oils, and serums with active ingredients sensitive to light. The downside is that you cannot see the contents or the fill level through the glass, so for monitoring stability, keep a control sample in clear glass.
How many millilitres fit in the 100 ml glass dropper bottle?
The bottle is designed to be filled with 100 ml, which is its nominal volume. It physically holds slightly more, but this space serves as a reserve for the dropper tube and expansion of the contents. Fill only to the nominal volume, otherwise some of the contents will overflow when the dropper is screwed in.
Is the glass dropper bottle suitable for essential oils and alcohol tinctures?
Yes, glass is resistant to both essential oils and alcohol and does not alter their properties. With highly concentrated essential oils or a high proportion of alcohol, we recommend checking how the silicone dropper bulb behaves after prolonged contact, and storing the contents in a tightly sealed bottle to prevent evaporation.
Can the glass dropper bottle be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the dropper can be washed and refilled after emptying. Wash the glass part with warm water and detergent, rinse the dropper including the tube and bulb, disinfect both parts with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and allow to dry completely. When changing the type of contents, for example from oil to a water-based serum, take care to remove all residues thoroughly.
Is the glass dropper bottle set suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not intended for food use. The glass bottle on its own has food contact approval; the dropper does not. The set is declared as suitable for cosmetic products – that is, for serums, oils, tinctures, and similar preparations intended for the skin.
Why does the glass bottle dropper not draw up thick contents?
The dropper works on the principle of negative pressure in the bulb and can only draw up liquids with low viscosity, such as oils, aqueous solutions, and alcohol extracts. Thick gels, emulsions, or serums with a higher proportion of thickener will not enter the tube or drip from it. For such formulations, a pump dispenser or jar is more suitable.
