A ready-made kit for facial and body mists, tonics, hydrolats, hair sprays, alcoholic fragrance waters or fabric fresheners. It consists of a glass bottle in the shape of a medicine vial with an opaque black glossy surface and a white mechanical sprayer. The bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml is intended for thin liquid products applied as a fine mist. Black glass shields the contents from light, making the kit particularly suitable for formulations with sensitive ingredients that would lose their scent or effectiveness in light.

The kit is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The food-contact certificate applies to the glass bottle alone; the sprayer does not have one, so the kit as a whole is intended for cosmetic use.

Why black glass with a sprayer

• Light protection – black opaque glass does not let light through. For hydrolats, tonics with vitamins, essential oils or plant extracts this is an advantage, as light accelerates their oxidation and loss of scent.
• Chemically neutral material – glass does not react with the contents, does not absorb scents and does not release them into the next filling. It is also suitable for alcohol-based contents that could degrade certain plastics over time.
• Fine atomisation – the mechanical sprayer disperses the contents into tiny droplets, so the product is applied evenly and without dripping. For mists and tonics, less product is needed than when pouring into the palm.
• Hygienic dispensing – the contents do not come into contact with hands and are less exposed to air than with an open neck, reducing the risk of contamination of water-based formulations.
• Clean look – the combination of glossy black glass and a white sprayer makes a bold statement, and a light label or print stands out well on the dark surface.

Which products is the kit suitable for

The sprayer is designed for thin liquids with a viscosity close to water. It works best with hydrolats, facial and body mists, tonics, hair detangling sprays, alcoholic perfume waters, deodorant sprays, and room or fabric fresheners. It reliably atomises both water-based and alcohol-based contents.

The kit is not suitable for thick oils, gels, serums with a thickener, or emulsions. The sprayer will either fail to draw them up, or will push them out in a stream instead of a mist and the mechanism will quickly clog. For such products it is better to choose a bottle with a dropper or a pump.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended for normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise part of the contents will overflow when screwing on the sprayer and the tube may bend.

What is good to know when filling and using

• Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle with warm water, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and spray several times to remove any manufacturing residues.
• Filling – the level is not visible through black glass, so it is practical to fill by weight on a scale or using a measuring cup. Thin contents pour well through a small funnel.
• Dose – one press releases approximately 0.13 ml, which helps estimate consumption and set the dosage information on the label.
• Tube – if after screwing on it reaches the bottom and bends, shorten it with an angled cut. The angled end draws up the contents even just above the bottom.
• Heat – never fill the glass with a hot formulation; a sudden temperature difference can crack the glass. Allow the contents to cool to room temperature.
• Essential oils and solvents – glass handles them without issues. The sprayer is made of polypropylene, which is resistant to most cosmetic ingredients. With a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend verifying the seal and mechanism performance with the specific formulation.
• Reuse – the bottle can be reused after washing and disinfecting. Replace the sprayer if it starts to jam or no longer sprays evenly.
• Label – it is worth degreasing the glossy surface with alcohol before applying the label, which will then adhere better.
• Recycling – glass goes in the glass bin, the sprayer in plastics. Unscrew and separate them before disposal.
