Product description
This is a complete set of a black glossy glass bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml and a black plastic atomiser with a dip tube sized to the bottle height. It is suited wherever the contents are to be applied as a fine mist while also being protected from light: facial tonics, hydrolats, face and body mists, hair sprays, alcohol-based refreshers or light perfume waters. Both the bottle and the atomiser are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, making the complete set intended for cosmetics.
Black glass is opaque, so the contents are shielded from light more effectively than with clear or coloured translucent glass. This is particularly valuable for contents that gradually deteriorate in light: hydrolats, tonics with vitamins or plant extracts, and blends containing essential oils. The trade-off is that the fill level is not visible from the outside, so it is advisable to measure the volume before filling.
Key features of the set
- Light protection – opaque glass blocks light from reaching the contents, helping to preserve colour, fragrance and sensitive active ingredients in the finished product.
- Fine and even dispensing – the atomiser disperses the contents into a fine mist; each press delivers a small, repeatable amount, and the contents do not come into contact with hands during use.
- Glass with no effect on contents – glass does not react with common cosmetic ingredients, does not absorb fragrance or colourants, and withstands alcohol solutions and essential oils.
- Dip tube fitted to the bottle – the atomiser's dip tube reaches all the way to the bottom, so the contents can be dispensed almost to the last drop, and the bottle does not remain “full at the bottom”.
- Reusable set – after washing and disinfection, both the bottle and atomiser can be refilled, which is practical for home production in small batches.
Nominal and total volume
When filling, it is useful to distinguish between two figures. The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions and which appears on the label. The total brimful volume is the physical capacity of the bottle right up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dip tube and atomiser head, which occupy part of the neck space when screwed on, and for the thermal expansion of the contents. The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle will overflow at the thread when the atomiser is screwed on, and the contents will reach the thread.
Since the fill level is invisible through black glass, fill by measured volume or by weight. After filling, press the atomiser several times without dispensing until the dip tube is primed and the mist is even.
Good to know
Preparation before first use. We recommend washing both the bottle and atomiser before use, rinsing with clean water, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allowing to dry completely. The atomiser is best disinfected by pumping ethanol through it several times and then pumping it dry so that no liquid remains in the dip tube.
Consistency of contents. The atomiser is designed for thin liquids: aqueous solutions, hydrolats, alcohol-based tonics, light mists. Thicker oils, gels and emulsions with higher viscosity will not atomise into a mist but will spray in a stream or clog the nozzle. With oil-based sprays, it is worth testing the specific blend first.
Alcohol solutions and essential oils. Glass is resistant to both alcohol and essential oils. The atomiser is made of polypropylene, which tolerates common alcohol-based and water-alcohol contents. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking the seal and mechanism performance after a few weeks.
Glass and temperature. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes; glass may crack under thermal shock. Allow the contents to cool to room temperature before filling.
Labelling. Light or metallic prints stand out on the glossy black surface. A transparent label with dark print on black glass is virtually invisible.
Alternative closure. If you wish to use the bottle with a closure other than this atomiser, closures with the same thread type and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing behaviour and compatibility of the packaging with the specific formulation.
Recycling. The glass bottle goes into the glass recycling stream; the atomiser goes into plastics. Separate them before disposal.
The food-contact certificate applies to the glass bottle alone. The complete set with atomiser is intended for cosmetic products; we do not recommend using it for food.
