Product description

A complete set for precise drop-by-drop dispensing: a glass vial-shaped bottle in a glossy black finish with a colour-matched dropper topped with a glossy black cap. The black glass is opaque and shields the contents from light — particularly useful for facial oils, skin serums, essential oil blends and other formulations prone to oxidation. The 100 ml capacity suits products dispensed in small doses that need to last over time.

The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle alone holds food-contact certification; the dropper does not, so the complete set is intended for cosmetic use only.

What the set is suitable for

  • Oil serums and facial oils – dispense a few drops directly into your palm or onto the face without touching the contents with your fingers.
  • Essential oil blends – dark glass slows light-induced degradation of fragrance components, and the dropper dispenses drop by drop, which is convenient with concentrated blends.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – neither the bottle glass nor the dropper's glass tube reacts with alcohol, making them suitable for contents with a high proportion of ethanol.
  • Beard, cuticle and hair-end oils – small doses and precise application to a specific area.
  • Water-based and hydroglycerin serums – the dropper handles thin serums with active ingredients and low viscosity.

The dropper is not suitable for thick creams, high-viscosity gels or formulations applied in larger quantities. It will not draw up dense contents, making dispensing impractical.

How to use the set

The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a glossy black screw cap that threads directly onto the bottle neck. The tube length is matched to the bottle height, reaching close to the bottom so the contents can be drawn down to almost nothing. Squeezing the bulb fills the tube; releasing it dispenses the contents drop by drop onto the area of application.

When filling, note two figures from the specifications. The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under standard filling. The total capacity to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is the allowance for the inserted dropper, which takes up space once screwed in, and for the expansion of contents with temperature changes.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Overfilling will cause the contents to overflow through the neck when the dropper is inserted, contaminating the thread and compromising the seal.

Good to know

Before the first fill, wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them and leave to dry completely. Residual water in the tube would separate in oil-based products and could reduce their stability.

Opaque glass has a practical implication: the fill level is not visible. If you or your customer need to monitor the remaining quantity, factor this in or opt for clear or amber glass.

The combination of materials in the dropper means that with concentrated essential oils or solvents it is advisable to check how the silicone bulb behaves after prolonged contact. The glass tube and the bottle are resistant to both oils and alcohol.

Repeated use poses no issue with a glass bottle; after washing and disinfecting it can be refilled. Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature shocks, so allow hot contents to cool before filling.

Labelling is made easier by the straight cylindrical body of the vial; light or metallic print stands out well against the glossy black glass.

At end of life the bottle goes into glass recycling. The dropper is a combination of glass, plastic, silicone and aluminium and should be sorted by its predominant material.

The complete set is not approved for food contact. For home-use oils or syrups, use the bottle on its own with a closure that carries food-contact certification.

Caps with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination we recommend verifying the seal and the behaviour of the closure with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does a black glass bottle protect the contents from light better than an amber one?
Yes, glossy black glass is opaque and blocks light entirely, whereas amber glass merely filters it. For oils with a high content of unsaturated fatty acids, essential oils and serums containing ingredients sensitive to oxidation, black glass is therefore the better choice. The drawback is that the fill level is not visible.
How much can the 100 ml glass dropper bottle actually hold?
The bottle is designed to be filled to a nominal volume of 100 ml. The total capacity to the brim is slightly larger, but the difference is the allowance for the inserted dropper and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If you fill the bottle beyond the nominal volume, the contents will overflow through the neck when the dropper is screwed in, contaminating the thread.
Is the dropper with a glass tube suitable for essential oils and tinctures?
Yes, both the dropper's glass tube and the glass bottle are resistant to essential oils and ethanol. With pure, undiluted essential oils we recommend checking how the silicone bulb behaves after prolonged contact, as some components can affect elastomers over time. Diluted blends and tinctures are unproblematic.
Can the glass dropper bottle also be used for a water-based serum?
Yes, the set is suitable for water-based and hydroglycerin serums with low viscosity. The dropper will draw up thin liquid contents without difficulty, but will not draw up thick gels or creams. With water-based products, ensure thorough disinfection of the dropper and adequate preservation of the serum, since the dropper comes into contact with skin and air.
How do you clean the dropper and glass bottle before reuse?
Wash the bottle with warm water and a cleaning agent, rinse it, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry upside down. Flush the dropper tube several times with ethanol by drawing it in and releasing, then leave to air-dry. Do not expose the bulb to boiling water and protect the glass from sudden temperature changes.
Can I fill the black glass bottle with food-grade oils or syrups?
The bottle on its own holds food-contact certification, but the complete set with the dropper does not. If you want to use the bottle for food products, pair it with a closure that carries food-contact certification. The dropper from this set should be used for cosmetics only.
