Product description
A glossy black glass bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and a black-and-gold pump dispenser is a ready-to-fill set for serums, facial emulsions, lotions and oil blends that are used in small, repeated doses. The opaque black glass protects the contents from light, making it particularly suitable for formulations with sensitive ingredients such as vegetable oils prone to oxidation, vitamins or plant extracts. The pump dispenser with a dip tube delivers the same small dose with each press, enabling precise application and reducing the risk of contaminating the contents with fingers.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; declarations of conformity for both the bottle and the dispenser are listed with the product. Dark glass with the gold detail of the dispenser is used in packaging where the container is expected to match the character of a facial serum or premium-tier oil product.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial serums and oil serums – a small dose per press corresponds to the typical amount for the face and neck; dark glass also protects oils and active ingredients from light.
- Light and medium-consistency emulsions – facial and body lotions, fluids and light creams that the dispenser draws up easily through the dip tube.
- Body and massage oils in a smaller pack – 100 ml is a practical size for a trial batch, travel or gift packaging.
- Hair and beard oils – dispensing small amounts directly into the palm without spilling or dripping down the bottle.
How the set works
The dispenser screws onto the bottle neck; the dip tube reaches the bottom of the bottle and the contents are pushed out through the nozzle when the head is pressed. The transparent cap protects the nozzle from dust and dried product residue between uses and prevents accidental pressing during transport. Before first use, the dispenser must be pressed several times until the dip tube fills and the product starts to flow evenly.
The glossy black surface is opaque, so the fill level is not visible from the outside. When filling in-house, it is advisable to take this into account when topping up and to mark the filling date on the label.
Nominal volume and brim-full volume
The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for during standard filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between them provides clearance for the dip tube and the lower part of the dispenser, which displace some of the contents upward when screwed on, and for expansion of the contents when temperature changes. Fill only to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents will overflow through the neck when the dispenser is screwed on.
Fill emulsions and oils only after they have cooled to room temperature. Glass cannot withstand sudden temperature changes, and warm contents will contract as they cool, leaving less product in the bottle than you measured.
Good to know
- Preparation before filling – wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Rinse the dispenser in the same way and pump it several times to ensure no alcohol or water remains in the dip tube.
- Content consistency – the dispenser is designed for liquid to medium-consistency products. Thick butters, balms and products with solid particles, such as sugar or salt scrubs, will clog the dip tube or will not be drawn up.
- Essential oils and solvents – glass is resistant to both oils and essential oils, but the plastic parts of the dispenser are in constant contact with the contents. With a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or alcohol, verify the dispenser's behaviour with the specific product.
- Reuse – the bottle can be reused after washing. After extended use, the dispenser may no longer seal or dose evenly; in that case, replace it with a new one with the same neck type.
- Labelling – the label should be designed for a smooth glossy surface, otherwise it may peel off the black glass.
- Other closures – closures with the same neck type as listed in the specifications, and ready-made combinations, are available in the Handymade range. With your own combination, verify the seal and dosing with the specific formulation.
- Recycling – the bottle goes into glass waste; the dispenser is a combination of plastic and aluminium and is sorted separately from glass.
The set is not intended for food use. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct contact with food; the dispenser does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
