Product description
The glass medicine bottle with a long dropper insert and a black ribbed safety cap is ready-made 30 ml packaging for dropwise dispensing. Each of the three parts has its own role: the amber glass protects the contents from light, the dropper insert in the neck dispenses drop by drop directly from the bottle, and the safety cap closes the bottle. The set is intended for cosmetic use, especially for facial serums, oil blends, active ingredient concentrates and essential oils or their dilutions, where precise dispensing matters.
What the set consists of
- Amber glass medicine bottle, 30 ml – the body of the packaging with an 18/410 neck finish. Amber glass filters light and so slows changes in sensitive ingredients, for example essential oils, vitamin concentrates or vegetable oils prone to oxidation.
- Plastic dropper insert, long – a PP insert that is pressed into the neck of the bottle. The contents are dispensed by turning the bottle upside down, one drop at a time.
- Plastic safety cap, black, ribbed – a cap made of PE with an 18/410 thread. The ribbed surface gives a good grip even with wet or oily fingers.
What it is suitable for
Dropper dispensing is worthwhile wherever the contents are used in small amounts. This set is intended above all for facial serums with an oil or water base, blends of vegetable oils for the face or beard, cuticle oil and essential oils, including their dilutions in a carrier oil. It is equally suitable for concentrated active ingredients that are added to formulations drop by drop, and for small batches for testing a formulation, where it is worth seeing how the product behaves with everyday opening.
Filling and volume
The packaging has a nominal volume of 30 ml, that is, the volume it is designed for in normal filling. The total volume to the brim is larger. The difference is a reserve for the dropper insert, which takes up part of the neck once fitted, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill the bottle up to the neck, the dropper insert will push the contents out when it is pressed in and the outside of the bottle will become soiled.
Fit the dropper insert only after filling, and before the first fitting check that the neck is dry and clean. The insert is held in the neck by friction, so it must sit straight and fully in place, otherwise the cap will be difficult to tighten and the packaging will not seal.
Oil-based contents drip more slowly than water-based ones, which is an advantage when dispensing serums and concentrates. Thick products, for example gel serums with a higher viscosity, will not pass through the dropper insert or will pass very slowly. A pump or a glass dropper is more suitable for them.
Good to know
Before the first filling, the bottle is washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. The dropper insert and the cap are treated in the same way; for plastic parts, a short rinse with alcohol and drying is sufficient. Glass does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature, so do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The glass medicine bottle on its own also has approval for direct contact with food, but the dropper insert and the cap do not. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetic products and should not be used for food in this configuration.
The dropper insert and the cap are made of plastic. For undiluted essential oils, alcohol tinctures or formulations with solvents, we recommend checking in advance how the plastic parts behave with the specific contents, for example with a test lasting several weeks in one filled bottle.
The packaging can be reused. After it is emptied, the bottle is washed and disinfected in the same way as before the first filling. The dropper insert can be prised out of the neck, but with oil-based contents it is often harder to clean thoroughly, so when you change the formulation it is worth fitting a new one. The glass bottle goes in glass recycling; the plastic parts are sorted separately as plastic.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations of bottle and closure can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
