Product description

What the set is suitable for

Brown glass vial 30 ml with a white throat-spray pump is designed for liquid cosmetic preparations that need to be applied precisely and in small amounts. The long, narrow nozzle delivers a fine stream exactly where needed, and each press releases the same small dose. Suitable for refreshing mouth sprays, scalp sprays applied between hair strands, tonics and oil-free serums for targeted areas, or soothing aftershave sprays. Brown glass reduces light transmission and protects the contents from its effects.

The name „vial“ refers to the shape of the bottle and „throat spray“ to the type of nozzle. The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The glass bottle individually holds a food-contact certificate; the pump does not.

Key benefits

  • Light protection – brown glass limits light transmission, helping to maintain the stability of essential oils, plant extracts and other light-sensitive ingredients.
  • Targeted application – the long nozzle delivers the stream precisely where needed, without dispersing to the surroundings. Suitable for the oral cavity, between hair strands or on small skin areas.
  • Small and repeatable dose – each press releases approximately 0.1 ml, making it easy to estimate consumption and dose active ingredients in leave-on preparations.
  • Glass with no reaction to contents – glass does not absorb fragrance or colour and does not affect the composition, so it can handle preparations containing alcohol and essential oils.
  • Practical volume – 30 ml is sufficient for test batches, travel-size packaging and preparations that are used slowly.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for during normal filling. Total brim volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the pump, which after fitting occupies part of the internal space, and for the expansion of the contents when temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents leak through the neck when the pump is screwed on and contaminate the thread and seal.

How the set works

The pump screws onto the neck of the bottle; the dip tube reaches to the bottom and draws up the contents when pressed. Before the first dose, the pump must be pressed several times until the tube and piston are primed. The tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle so it can be adjusted. Cut it so it reaches just to the bottom, and trim the end at an angle. This prevents it from suctioning against the bottom and allows the pump to draw up the last of the contents.

The pump works reliably with low-viscosity contents: aqueous solutions, hydrolats, tonics, alcohol-based extracts and very light serums. Thicker preparations, gels and emulsions will block the flow or drip from the nozzle. We recommend testing the behaviour of each formulation in a small quantity before filling an entire batch.

The pump is made of polypropylene. For preparations with a high proportion of essential oils, we recommend checking the seal and piston action after a few weeks.

What to know before filling

  • Preparation – before first use, wash the bottle, rinse it and allow it to dry completely. The interior can be disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Flush the pump by pressing clean water or alcohol through it several times and allow it to dry.
  • Reuse – glass tolerates repeated washing and disinfection without any change in properties. The pump can be reused if thoroughly rinsed and the nozzle is not blocked with residue.
  • Suspensions and sediments – contents with undissolved particles will gradually clog the nozzle. Only clear or fully dissolved preparations are suitable for this set.
  • Heat and glass – a sudden change in temperature can crack the glass. Allow hot solutions to cool before filling.
  • Label – the straight body of the bottle labels well.
  • Recycling – when empty, unscrew the pump. Glass goes with glass, the polypropylene pump with plastics.

Closures with the same neck type, listed in the specifications, and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the glass vial with throat spray suitable for food?
The set as a whole is not declared for food contact. The brown glass bottle individually holds a food-contact certificate; the throat-spray pump does not. The full combination is therefore intended for cosmetic preparations, such as refreshing mouth sprays, tonics or skin sprays.
Why is the 30 ml vial not filled to the brim?
The vial is filled to the nominal volume of 30 ml, not to the total brim volume. The pump after fitting occupies part of the internal space, and the contents need room to expand when temperature changes. If overfilled, the contents leak through the neck when the pump is attached and contaminate the thread and seal.
Can the throat spray be used with oily contents?
No, pure oils are not suitable for this pump. The mechanism is designed for low-viscosity contents such as aqueous solutions, hydrolats, tonics and alcohol-based extracts. Oil will not spray from the nozzle — it tends to drip, and the pump will gradually become clogged. A vial with a dropper is more appropriate for oily preparations.
How is the pump dip tube shortened?
Before first use, cut the tube with a sharp knife or scissors so it reaches just to the bottom of the bottle. Cut the end at an angle to prevent it from suctioning against the bottom and to allow the pump to draw up the last few millilitres. A tube that is too long will bend inside the bottle and the pump will then draw air.
Does brown glass protect the contents sufficiently from light?
Brown glass significantly limits light transmission and slows changes in fragrance, colour and efficacy of light-sensitive ingredients such as essential oils and plant extracts. However, it is not a complete barrier. We recommend storing the filled set away from direct sunlight, especially for preparations without added antioxidants.
Is this set suitable for a refreshing mouth spray?
Yes, the set is declared suitable for cosmetic preparations, and oral care products fall into that category. The long nozzle delivers a fine dose directly into the mouth without dispersing to the surroundings. The formulation must comply with cosmetic legislation and all ingredients must be fully dissolved to prevent the nozzle from clogging.
