Product description

A glass bottle 30 ml with a white sprayer is a ready-to-fill set for facial mists, tonics and hydrolats in small packaging. Amber glass protects the contents from light, making it suitable for ingredients that lose efficacy in light – plant extracts, vitamins or fragrance components. The sprayer dispenses the contents as a fine mist, which is practical for products applied to the face, hair or a larger skin area without hand contact.

The set consists of an amber glass bottle and a mechanical sprayer made of polypropylene with a dip tube. Both components are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics, the declaration of conformity and test reports are available with the product. The glass bottle alone additionally holds a certificate for direct food contact, the sprayer does not – the set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

The sprayer works best with thin aqueous and alcohol-based contents. Typical uses:

  • Facial mists and tonics – aqueous solutions with active ingredients, hydrolats, refreshing sprays for face and body.
  • Hair sprays – light conditioning sprays or water-based shine sprays.
  • Alcohol-based preparations – perfume waters, hand sanitiser sprays, tinctures for external use.
  • Travel and sample packaging – the small volume is suitable for trial versions of a formula or samples for customers.

Thicker emulsions, gels and viscous oils will not be dispersed into a mist by the sprayer – they come out in a stream or clog the mechanism. For such products, a pump or dropper is more suitable. Light oil blends can only be sprayed to a limited extent; check the behaviour with the specific formulation.

Nominal and total volume

When choosing packaging, it is useful to distinguish two figures from the parameters. Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed for normal filling and which is stated on the label. Total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is the allowance for the sprayer with the dip tube and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise, after screwing on the sprayer, the contents will overflow or the dip tube cannot be inserted without leakage.

What is useful to know before filling

The dip tube of the sprayer is longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, shorten it with a diagonal cut so that it ends just above the bottom – the sprayer will then draw almost all of the contents without taking in air.

Before first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect with alcohol and allow to dry completely; a detailed cleaning procedure is in the questions below. The set can be reused. If the previous contents contained fragrance components or dyes, replace the sprayer – polypropylene can retain them and transfer them to the new contents.

Glass tolerates temperature well, but not sudden changes – do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking the seal and dosing of the sprayer after several weeks of storage.

One press of the sprayer dispenses approximately 0.13 ml. For products where the precise applied dose of the active ingredient matters, take this into account when designing the concentration.

The glass bottle and sprayer are recycled separately: glass goes into glass recycling, the sprayer, once separated from the bottle, into plastics. Label space is limited.

Closures with the same neck type as the bottle, and other ready-made combinations, are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 30 ml glass bottle with sprayer suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. The food contact certificate applies to the glass bottle on its own; the sprayer does not have one. The set is therefore intended for cosmetic products – facial mists, tonics, hydrolats or alcohol-based sprays.
Does amber glass protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass absorbs a significant proportion of light and slows the degradation of light-sensitive components. It is therefore suitable for products containing plant extracts, vitamins or essential oils. It is not complete protection, however, and glass does not protect against heat – store the bottle away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Can oil be sprayed with the sprayer on the 30 ml bottle?
Only to a limited extent. The mechanical sprayer is designed for thin aqueous and alcohol-based liquids; light oil blends come out more as a stream than a mist, and thicker oils clog the mechanism. For oil serums, a dropper or pump with the same neck type is more suitable.
How much content actually fits in the 30 ml bottle?
It is filled to the nominal volume, i.e. 30 ml. The bottle has a physically larger brim-full volume, but the allowance is needed for inserting the sprayer with the dip tube and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If filled to the brim, the contents will overflow after the sprayer is screwed on.
How to clean the glass bottle with sprayer before reuse?
Wash the bottle with warm water and detergent, rinse, disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and flush through with alcohol; the mechanism is not disassembled. If the previous contents contained fragrance components or dyes, replace the sprayer with a new one – plastic can retain them and transfer them to the new contents.
Why does the sprayer dip tube need to be shortened?
Because the dip tube as supplied is longer than the height of the bottle and would not fit in straight. Shorten it with a diagonal cut so that it ends just above the bottom. The diagonal cut prevents the tube from suctioning to the bottom, so the sprayer draws almost all of the contents without taking in air.
