Product description
A glass bottle, vial with a black spray pump is a complete packaging and closure set with a nominal volume of 30 ml, designed for liquid cosmetic preparations applied by spraying. Amber glass protects the contents from light, making it particularly suitable for facial mists, tonics and hydrolats, perfume and alcohol-based waters, or light hair sprays whose formulations quickly lose quality in light. The smaller volume is practical for samples, travel sizes, test batches or preparations consumed within a few weeks.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; declaration of conformity and test certificates are available with the product. Only the glass bottle separately holds a certificate for direct food contact; the spray pump does not, so the complete set is intended for cosmetics.
Why choose this set
- Light protection – amber glass absorbs a substantial portion of light and slows the degradation of light-sensitive ingredients such as essential oils, plant extracts or certain vitamins.
- Precise dosing – the mechanical spray pump releases a small dose of approximately 0.14 ml with each press, which is enough to evenly moisten the skin without running.
- Hygienic application – the contents are applied without contact with fingers; nothing from the skin returns into the bottle, which helps maintain the stability of the preparation during use.
- Non-reactive glass – glass does not react with the contents, does not absorb fragrances or colorants, and can be repeatedly washed and disinfected.
- Transparent cap – protects the nozzle from dirt and accidental pressing in a bag, while keeping the spray pump state visible.
Which preparations is it suitable for
The spray pump works reliably with contents of water-like consistency. It works well for hydrolats, tonics, facial and body mists, water- or alcohol-based hair sprays, sprayable deodorants, perfume waters containing ethanol, and solutions of active substances without thickeners.
Light dry oils (such as grapeseed oil or squalane) can usually be sprayed, but the stream is more of a fine jet than a mist and the nozzle may clog over time. Heavy oils, emulsions, creams, gel tonics with a thickener or preparations with undissolved particles are not suitable – the spray pump will not draw them up or the nozzle will become blocked.
Before filling a larger batch, we recommend testing one bottle with your specific formulation. This will verify whether the spray pump draws up the contents, whether it produces a mist or a jet, and whether the nozzle stays clear after a few days.
Nominal and total volume
With packaging you will encounter two figures. Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold when filled normally. Total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference provides a reserve for the spray pump dip tube, which displaces some contents upward when screwed on, and for potential expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents will overflow through the neck once the spray pump is attached.
What to know when filling and using
Before the first fill, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow it to dry completely. Residual water would dilute the contents and could cause cloudiness in anhydrous preparations. It is sufficient to rinse the spray pump with ethanol and allow it to drip dry.
Do not fill the glass with hot contents. A sudden change in temperature may crack the glass. Allow the contents to cool to room temperature first.
The spray pump is made of polypropylene, which tolerates common cosmetic ingredients. When the formulation contains a high proportion of essential oils, limonene or other solvents, monitor whether the flexibility of the dip tube changes over time or whether the mechanism stiffens. It is advisable to verify compatibility with the specific formulation.
The dip tube is sized to the height of the bottle, so it draws the contents from almost the very bottom. After filling, press the spray pump several times without output until the tube is primed and begins releasing a consistent dose.
Mists and tonics for the spray bottle should be well preserved. Although the contents are protected from fingers, air is drawn into the bottle with every press, so a reliable preservative and suitable pH are essential for water-based preparations.
The bottle can be reused; always wash and disinfect it before each new fill. At the end of its useful life, glass goes into glass recycling and the spray pump with plastics – both parts are easily separated by unscrewing.
Closures with the same neck type as listed in the bottle's parameters, and other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and the packaging behaviour with your specific formulation.
