Product description
A small glass bottle with a volume of 5 ml and an aluminium cap is a ready-to-use set for samples and testers. The clear glass reveals the colour and clarity of the contents, making it suitable for serums, facial oils, essential oil blends or perfume compositions where both the producer and the customer want to see what is inside. The metal cap gives the small packaging a secure closure and a clean look that pairs well with simple labels.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Declarations of conformity can be found in the parameters of individual components.
How the set works
- Glass vial – glass does not react with common cosmetic ingredients, does not absorb fragrance or colour, and tolerates oily, aqueous and alcoholic contents. The straight shape with a narrow neck allows precise pouring and dropwise dispensing.
- Aluminium cap with sealing insert – the cap is screwed on by hand and the inner insert made of foam polyethylene seats on the neck, sealing the contents against leakage and evaporation.
- Transparency – the contents and remaining quantity are visible at a glance, however glass allows light to pass through. For light-sensitive contents, it is therefore better suited for short-term packaging or placed inside a box.
- Small volume – suitable for order samples, travel packaging or initial trials of a new formulation before larger-scale production.
Suitable for products such as
It works best with liquid and fluid contents: facial and hair oils, serums, essential oil blends, oil perfumes, tinctures or active ingredient concentrates for testing. The narrow neck is not suitable for thick creams and butters, which would be difficult to remove from the bottle. For those, jars are the better option.
Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Samples sensitive to oxidation or fading (certain plant oils, vitamin C, natural colourants) should be stored in a box or away from direct light, and expect a shorter shelf life than with dark glass.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the volume for which the container is designed for normal filling, and it is by this volume that the container is labelled. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them provides a reserve for the cap, a possible dropper, and for expansion of the contents when temperature changes. The container should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Both values can be found in the product parameters.
Leave an air gap below the neck. An overfilled bottle will be forced through the thread when screwing on the cap, the contents will get under the sealing insert and the cap will then no longer seat properly.
Good to know
- Preparation before first filling – wash both the bottle and the cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Moisture under the sealing insert has nowhere to evaporate in a closed container.
- Glass and heat – do not pour hot contents into a cold glass bottle; a sudden change in temperature can damage it. Allow the mixture to cool to at least a lukewarm temperature.
- Tightening the cap – aluminium is a soft metal; tighten by hand just enough for the insert to seat properly. Excessive force can deform the cap or the insert, reducing the seal.
- Concentrated contents – glass is resistant to essential oils and alcohol. We recommend testing the behaviour of the foam polyethylene sealing insert with undiluted essential oils or alcohol concentrates on a single unit before larger-scale filling.
- Repeated use – the bottle can be refilled after washing and disinfecting. Replace the cap if the insert is deformed or has absorbed the fragrance of the previous contents.
- Labelling – the label area is small at this volume; dimensions can be found in the parameters. A narrow wrap-around label or a tag on the neck is a practical option.
- Other closures – closures with the same neck type as specified in the parameters are compatible with this bottle. Further ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing with the specific formulation.
- Recycling – both glass and aluminium are readily recyclable. Before disposal, separate the cap from the bottle so that each material can be processed separately.
