Product description

A glass bottle in a vial shape with a capacity of 100 ml and a silver aluminium cap is a resealable container for liquid cosmetic products that are poured or dispensed from the bottle in portions. It is particularly suitable for facial waters, tonics, hydrolats, massage, body and bath oils.

Glass does not react with the contents, does not let air or scent through, and does not absorb formula components. It is therefore suitable for aqueous, alcoholic and oil-based contents. The screw cap made of aluminium has a sealing insert on the inside, which seats on the rim of the neck when tightened and closes the bottle. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

  • Aqueous and alcoholic products – tonics, facial waters and hydrolats, which are poured onto a cotton pad or into the palm.
  • Oil-based products – massage, body and bath oils; glass does not absorb scent and can be thoroughly washed after emptying.
  • Bulk storage packaging – custom oil blends, macerates or ready-made bases, from which portions are gradually transferred into smaller containers.
  • Gift and craft packaging – the combination of glass and silver metal looks clean, and the bottle body provides enough space for a label.

The cap is a simple closure without a dispensing element. For products that are dispensed drop by drop or sprayed, a different type of closure is more practical. Closures with the same neck type (listed in the specifications) and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and container behaviour with the specific formulation.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the closure and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes.

Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The headspace below the neck will prevent the contents from pressing against the cap when heated and spilling when opened.

What to know before filling

Before first use, wash both the bottle and the cap, sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the container increases the risk of microbial contamination, particularly in products with an aqueous phase.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle; warm the bottle first or allow the contents to cool down.

The contents do not come into contact with the aluminium itself, but with the sealing insert made of foam polyethylene. It tolerates common cosmetic oils, aqueous and alcoholic solutions. With concentrated essential oils and blends with a high proportion of solvents, we recommend checking in advance whether the insert softens after a few weeks and whether the cap still seals.

Tighten the cap with care. Thin aluminium can deform under excessive force, and the thread will then no longer hold as it should.

The food-contact certificate applies to the glass bottle alone; the aluminium cap does not hold one. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetic products, not for food.

Labels adhere best to dry and degreased glass; the dimensions needed for label design are listed in the specifications. Both glass and aluminium are recyclable; it is advisable to separate the cap from the bottle before sorting for recycling.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml glass vial with an aluminium cap suitable for food?
The set consisting of the 100 ml glass vial with an aluminium cap is not intended for food use. The food-contact certificate applies only to the glass bottle itself; the aluminium cap is declared solely for contact with cosmetic products. For home-made syrups, oils or herbal extracts, the bottle must therefore be combined with a closure that has confirmed food-contact suitability.
How much should be filled into a 100 ml glass vial?
The 100 ml glass vial should be filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The total volume up to the neck is slightly larger and serves as a reserve for the closure and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. When filled to the brim, the contents may press against the cap and spill when first opened.
Is the vial with an aluminium cap suitable for oils and alcoholic solutions?
Yes, the glass vial with an aluminium cap is suitable for cosmetic oils as well as aqueous and alcoholic solutions, as glass does not react with them and does not absorb scent. The contents also come into contact with the foam polyethylene sealing insert of the cap. With concentrated essential oils and strong solvents, we recommend verifying the insert's resistance and the cap's seal with a test filling.
Can the glass vial with an aluminium cap be reused?
The glass vial can be reused if it is thoroughly washed, sanitised with alcohol and allowed to dry after emptying. The thread and sealing insert of the cap should be checked. If the insert is compressed, damaged or has absorbed the scent of the previous contents, the cap may no longer seal reliably and it is better to replace it.
Can a dropper or spray pump be fitted to the 100 ml vial instead of the cap?
Yes, a dropper or spray pump with the same neck type as listed in the product specifications can be fitted to the 100 ml glass vial instead of the cap. It is also necessary to verify the dip tube length relative to the bottle height and whether the closure seals and dispenses as expected with the specific formulation.
