Amber Glass Bottle, Type B, Slim, Silver Aluminium Cap, 10 ml

The amber glass medicine bottle, type B, with an aluminium cap is a set for 10 ml of product, a sample or a trial batch. Amber glass filters light, so it is particularly suitable for light-sensitive contents: facial serums, face or nail oils, essential oil blends, tinctures and fragrance compositions. The tall, narrow shape takes up little space on a shelf or in a sample box.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The certificate for direct food contact applies only to the glass bottle on its own; the silver aluminium cap does not have it. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetic products.

What the set is suited for

• Facial serums and oils – the small volume and dark glass suit products with more expensive active ingredients that are used up within a few weeks and should not stand in the light.
• Essential oil blends and fragrance oils – glass does not react with concentrated fragrance substances and does not take on their scent, so after washing the bottle can be used again for different contents.
• Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass withstands alcohol and plant extracts, and the amber colour slows the fading of coloured extracts.
• Samples and test batches – 10 ml is enough to try out a formulation or to make a sample for a customer. A closed bottle is easy to label and to store alongside other batches.

Cap and seal

The silver aluminium cap screws onto the neck and seals it with an EPE (foamed polyethylene) liner that sits on the rim of the neck. The metal cap does not dispense the contents. You pour from the bottle, take out the contents with a glass rod, or transfer them into a working container. Filling and volume

The nominal volume of 10 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the cap liner and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill up to the neck, the contents will push air and some of the liquid onto the thread when the cap is screwed on, and the cap will stick.

The narrow neck calls for an aid: a small funnel, a syringe without a needle, or a dropper for transfer. Fill oil-based and thicker serums more slowly so that no air bubble is left at the bottom.

Preparation and maintenance

Before first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual water in an oil-based or anhydrous product can cause cloudiness and speed up spoilage. It is enough to wipe the cap liner with alcohol; do not soak it for long.

Glass tolerates sudden temperature changes poorly. Let the hot phase cool to at least lukewarm before filling, otherwise a cold bottle may crack. Do not leave a filled bottle in direct sunlight or near a heater.

After washing, the bottle can be used repeatedly. When changing the contents from a fragrance oil to a different product, it helps to wash the bottle with warm water and a cleaning product, rinse it with alcohol and let it dry. At the end of its life, separate the glass and the aluminium cap before disposal, as each belongs in a different sorted waste stream.
