What the set is suitable for and what less

It works best with water-based and alcohol-based contents of low viscosity: hydrolats and facial mists, tonics, refreshing body and hair sprays, perfumed waters. It can also be used for light oil sprays, such as dry body or hair oil. Thicker oils, serums or products with a thickener pass through the sprayer mechanism with difficulty or form a stream instead of a mist. Also unsuitable are contents with undissolved particles (scrubs, pigments) that may clog the nozzle.

Nominal and total volume – what they mean

Nominal volume is the amount for which the bottle is designed for normal filling, and this is the figure stated on the label. Total volume to the rim is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the sprayer tube and for slight expansion of the contents when temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim – otherwise the contents will be pushed out when screwing on the sprayer and will contaminate the thread, impairing the seal. Working with the set in practice

Before the first filling, wash, rinse with clean water and disinfect both the bottle and the sprayer with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Allow all parts to dry completely so that rinsing water does not get into the product. The sprayer is attached by screwing onto the neck and tightened by hand – excessive force will not improve the seal, it will more likely damage the thread. Before the first use, press the mechanism several times empty until the tube fills and an even mist begins to emerge.

The sprayer tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Cut it with a sharp knife so that it reaches just to the bottom, and cut the end at an angle so that it does not suction to the bottom and the entire contents can be dispensed. The glossy black glass surface will show fingerprints and dust clearly, so wipe it with a lint-free cloth before labelling.
