Glass bottle, black glossy, nasal spray 50 ml is a complete set: a glass vial with a white nasal spray pump. It is suitable for aqueous and light liquid preparations applied in small, precise doses as a fine mist: hydrosol sprays, aromatic travel sprays, or handbag-sized facial tonic packaging. The black opaque glass protects the contents from light, so the set is also well suited for light-sensitive contents such as sprays with essential oils or botanical extracts.

The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.

Key features

• Light protection – black glossy glass blocks light, slowing oxidation and scent loss in sensitive ingredients. The downside is that the fill level is not visible from the outside.
• Fine mist in a small dose – the pump dispenses approximately 0.12 ml per actuation, which is the right amount for precise application to a small area without dripping.
• Narrow nozzle – the tip is designed for nasal application, but works equally well wherever targeted moistening of a small area is needed, such as small areas on the face or skin behind the ears.
• Glass does not affect the contents – glass does not leach substances or odour into the contents, does not react with aqueous, alcoholic, or oily formulations, and can be cleaned repeatedly.
• Dip tube to the bottom – the dip tube reaches all the way to the bottom of the bottle, so nearly all the contents can be dispensed without tilting.

What the set is suitable for

The pump works best with thin aqueous solutions: saline and marine solutions, hydrosols, low-concentration aqueous hyaluronic acid solutions, glycerin-based moisturising solutions, and light alcoholic aromatic sprays. The thicker the content, the worse it atomises. Thick serums, emulsions, and oils are therefore not suitable for this set — the pump will either fail to dispense them or deliver a stream instead of a mist. With aqueous contents containing solubilised essential oils, we recommend checking whether the nozzle becomes clogged over time.

When combining with a different closure, look for closures with the same neck type as specified in the parameters. Ready-made sets and individual closures are available in the Handymade range. With each new combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing, and container behaviour with the specific formulation.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. Total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a margin for the dip tube and the pump body, which displace some of the contents upward when screwed in, and for liquid expansion with temperature changes. The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, never to the brim — otherwise the contents will overflow the thread when the pump is fitted and the closure will not seal.

Filling and working with the pump

After filling, tighten the pump firmly and make the first few actuations empty, until the dip tube and pump chamber have filled with the contents. Only then will it dispense evenly. The pump sprays only in upright position; when inverted, the dip tube draws in air.

Glass is resistant to alcohol and essential oils; the plastic parts of the pump are not without reservation. With contents containing a higher proportion of ethanol or undiluted essential oils, we recommend checking whether the seals and nozzle harden or affect the scent of the contents after a few weeks.

What is worth knowing

• Preservation – aqueous contents in this set require preservation just like any aqueous preparation. The pump does limit contact between the contents and air and fingers, but it is not airless and does not protect the contents from microbial growth.
• Level check – the contents are not visible through the black glass. When producing for customers, account for marking the fill date on the label; for personal use, note that you will only know the contents are running out from a weakening mist.
• Glass and heat – do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes; the glass may crack from thermal shock. Allow the contents to cool to room temperature before filling.
• Labelling – the cylindrical body of the vial is suitable for standard self-adhesive labels; light or metallic prints stand out well on the black glossy glass.
• Reuse – glass withstands repeated washing and disinfection. The pump can be flushed, but when changing the contents or at any sign of nozzle clogging, we recommend replacing it with a new one.
• Recycling – the glass bottle belongs in glass recycling after unscrewing the pump; the pump is made of several plastics and a steel spring and is sorted as plastic.
