What the set is suitable for

The spray pump works best with low-viscosity contents, i.e. liquids close to the consistency of water or alcohol. Typical uses:

• Tonics and hydrosol mists – water-based products applied to the skin as a fine mist.
• Hair and body sprays – refreshing mists, heat protection for hair, or lightweight hair tonics.
• Eau de parfum and alcohol-based sprays – alcohol bases spray well, and glass tolerates them long-term without any change.
• Makeup setting sprays and hand sanitiser sprays – thin water-alcohol blends with fine application.

Thicker contents (gels, polymer-thickened serums, cream-consistency emulsions, denser oils) cannot be turned into a mist by the spray pump. Other closures with the same neck type are more suitable for such products.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed for regular filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is the headspace for the spray pump dip tube, which displaces some volume once screwed in, and for expansion of the contents when temperature changes. Therefore fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the product will be pushed out when fitting the spray pump and the packaging may not seal properly.

Useful information

• Preparation before filling – wash, rinse, and sanitise both the bottle and the spray pump with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol before the first fill. Allow both parts to dry completely before filling, so that residual water does not dilute the product or promote microbial growth.
• Testing with your own formulation – the set is assembled so that the spray pump seals with the bottle. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, and for very thin oily blends, we recommend verifying with a small quantity whether the spray pump still dispenses evenly after a few days and does not leak. The plastic parts of the spray pump may soften or absorb fragrance with prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils.
• Glass and temperature – fill with cooled contents. Sudden temperature changes (hot contents into a cold bottle, freezing) may damage the glass.
• Opaque bottle – the black glass makes it impossible to see how much product remains. For products made for sale, state the volume on the label; for personal use, an occasional weight check will help.
• Labelling – the glossy black surface is smooth and holds self-adhesive labels well; white or metallic print stands out against the dark background.
• Reuse – the bottle can be washed and refilled after emptying. Rinse the spray pump with warm water and a small amount of cleaning agent, then spray through with clean water several times and allow to dry. When switching products (for example from a perfume to a tonic), it is better to use a new spray pump to avoid transferring fragrance.
• Contact with cosmetics and food – the set as a whole is declared suitable for use with cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact; the spray pump does not, so the set is not intended for food use.
• Recycling – after removing the spray pump, the bottle goes into glass recycling and the polypropylene spray pump goes into plastic recycling.
