Product description

A glass dropper bottle 50 ml in black glossy glass is a ready-made set for facial serums, oils and blends with essential oils that are dispensed drop by drop. Black opaque glass barely lets light through, protecting contents that are degraded by light: oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids, serums with vitamins and antioxidants, or essential oil blends.

The set consists of a glass vial, a plastic dropper inserted into the neck, and a white screw cap. The dropper dispenses the contents drop by drop by tilting the bottle, without any tools and without risk of spillage. The cap then seals the contents. The glossy black surface with a white cap has a clean, contrasting look, appreciated especially by makers who sell or gift their products.

How the set works

After filling, the dropper is pressed into the bottle neck, where it holds by its own shape and also contributes to the seal. Dispensing is done by tilting or gently shaking. The dripping speed depends on the viscosity of the contents: light oils and water-based serums drip smoothly, thicker oils more slowly. This type of closure is not intended for thick gels or creams. The cap screws directly onto the neck over the dropper. When the entire contents need to be poured out, the dropper can be removed from the neck.

The dropper is made of polypropylene, which handles common cosmetic oils, water-based and alcohol-based solutions well. With undiluted essential oils or contents with a higher proportion of solvents, we recommend verifying the dropper's behaviour during prolonged contact.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume of the bottle is 50 ml. This is the volume the packaging is intended for during normal filling. The total volume to the rim is greater, because the bottle has a reserve above the nominal level up to the neck. This reserve is necessary for the dropper, which takes up part of the space when pressed into the neck, and for the expansion of the contents when temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim. The exact values of both volumes are stated in the parameters.

Before the first production filling, fill one bottle to the nominal volume, insert the dropper and screw on the cap. This way you can verify that the level does not push the contents through the dropper and that the set seals well with your formulation.

Suitable for products such as

  • Facial serums – water-based and oil-based, dispensed drop by drop onto the palm or directly onto the skin.
  • Facial and hair oils – especially blends with sensitive oils that need protection from light.
  • Essential oil blends – diluted in a carrier oil, for example for massage or aromatherapy.
  • Beard and cuticle oils – small doses where precise dropping is more practical than a pump.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – the 50 ml volume corresponds to a typical amount for personal use.

What to know before filling

Before first use, wash the bottle, dropper and cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Moisture in the packaging shortens the shelf life of water-based formulations in particular.

Glass withstands normal processing temperatures, but sudden temperature changes are harmful to it, and the plastic dropper may deform with heat. Fill the contents only after cooling down, not hot directly from the beaker.

The bottle can be reused. Thorough washing and disinfection of the glass is sufficient. However, the dropper may retain the scent of the previous contents, so we recommend replacing it with a new one when changing the formulation. When labelling, account for the glossy surface: choose labels with adhesive intended for glass and test adhesion on one piece.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The declaration of conformity and test reports are available with the product. The glass bottle alone has a separate test report for direct contact with food; the dropper and cap do not.

The complete set is not approved for food contact and is intended for cosmetics. For food use, use the glass bottle alone with a closure that has a food contact test report.

Closures with the same neck type, listed in the parameters, and further ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. When combining your own bottle and closure, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and packaging behaviour with your specific formulation. The glass bottle belongs in glass recycling after use, the dropper and cap in plastic recycling.

Frequently asked questions

Does the black glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, black opaque glass barely lets light through and protects the contents from it. The disadvantage is that you cannot see the level or colour of the contents through the wall. For serums and oils sensitive to oxidation, however, protection from light is more important than visibility of the contents.
Why should the 50 ml dropper bottle not be filled to the rim?
The 50 ml dropper bottle is filled to the nominal volume, because after inserting the dropper and screwing on the cap, the contents would have nowhere to go and would overflow when the dropper is pressed in. The nominal volume accounts for a reserve for the dropper and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The level should remain below the lower edge of the neck.
Is the black dropper bottle suitable for water-based serums as well as oils?
Yes, the set is suitable for water-based serums, oil blends and alcohol tinctures. The difference is in dispensing speed: water-based and light oil contents drip smoothly, thicker oils more slowly. The dropper is not intended for gels and creams; for these, a pump bottle or jar is more suitable.
Can the glass dropper bottle be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be refilled after washing and disinfection with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. We recommend replacing the plastic dropper when changing the contents, as it may retain the scent or residue of the previous formulation. The cap only needs to be washed and dried.
Which closures fit this black glass bottle 50 ml?
Closures with the same neck type as stated in this product's parameters will fit the bottle. Ready-made combinations of the bottle with other closures can be found in the Handymade range. When replacing the closure, always verify the seal and dispensing with the specific contents.
