Vitamin C brings great benefits to the skin, nourishing it, serving as an antioxidant, helping to reduce the signs of skin aging and dark spots.
The disadvantage of classic vitamin C, or pure ascorbic acid, is its low stability in aqueous environments; this vitamin is easily subject to oxidation, which is only partially slowed down by the addition of vitamin E or other antioxidants.
Ascorbyl palmitate is an Ecocert-approved ester of vitamin C (its stable form has long-lasting effects) and is formed by combining ascorbic acid and palmitic acid. It has similar effects to ascorbic acid and is also absorbed more quickly into the skin, thus acting as an excellent antioxidant in the cells. It is very unstable (sensitive to heat and light). However, it is not an allergen and does not irritate the skin, so it does not bother even the most sensitive skin.
It is obtained by esterification of ascorbic acid (fermentation) and palmitic acid (palm oil).
This stabilised form of vitamin C is more quickly absorbed into the skin and thus acts as an excellent antioxidant in the cells (especially in conjunction with vitamin E). It prevents skin ageing and the formation of wrinkles, gives the skin elasticity and suppleness. Thanks to its whitening ability, it helps fight age spots and pigment spots, heals light stretch marks and scars. It has anti-inflammatory effects, which makes it suitable for the treatment of acne.
It is not an allergen and does not irritate the skin, so it does not bother even the most sensitive skin. However, preparations containing it are sensitive to heat and light.
It is lipophilic, that is, it dissolves in oils or oil esters and is added to the heated oil phase. It does not dissolve completely in the oil phase and therefore does not form completely transparent oils. However, it is very stable in butters or emulsions.
Vitamin C is sensitive to the presence of metals, so it is advisable to add chelators and vitamin E simultaneously to products to improve the properties; it is not recommended to combine it with clays.
This is a vegan vitamin C, synthetically prepared from 15% natural origin.
Dosage: 0.1-0.2% as antioxidant (to protect products) ideally in combination with vitamin E , 0.1-1% as active ingredient
