Product description

This plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a capacity of 50 ml and a simple screw cap is a ready-made set for filling liquid cosmetic products. The bottle is made of white, opaque PET, which is lightweight and does not break when dropped. The black PP cap closes the neck without a dispensing element, so the contents are poured or scooped out of the bottle.

In cosmetics making, this set is best suited to face and body oils, toners and facial lotions, hydrolates, tinctures, cleansing oils, liquid ingredients for further production, and samples or travel sizes of liquids applied to the hand or a cotton pad. The 50 ml volume is enough for several weeks of use of a single product or for a smaller test batch.

What the set is suited for

  • Oils and oil serums – PET withstands common vegetable oils and oil blends, and the opaque wall limits exposure to light, which speeds up the yellowing of oils.
  • Toners, hydrolates, facial lotions – water-based products pour easily from the narrow neck onto a cotton pad or into the palm.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – common cosmetic concentrations of ethanol are usual for PET; with a higher alcohol content or longer storage, check how the packaging behaves.
  • Samples and travel sizes – the bottle weighs little and does not break, so it can be sent by post or carried in a bag.
  • Intermediate products in production – for example pre-prepared blends of essential oils in a carrier oil, a water phase with dissolved active ingredients, or preservative solutions that are measured out by weight.

Bottle and cap as one unit

The cap screws directly onto the neck and closes the bottle without any additional part. Inside, it has an EPE liner, which sits against the rim of the neck once tightened and seals it. Before filling a larger batch, we recommend filling the set with your specific formulation, leaving it on its side for several days, and checking that the contents do not leak and that the cap can be opened without excessive force.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and you will find the declaration of conformity for both components with the product. Only the bottle has a separate certificate for direct food contact; the cap does not. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics.

If you want your own closure instead of the supplied cap, look for closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters. You will find ready-made combinations of a bottle with a dropper or a mini trigger sprayer in the Handymade range. With every new combination, check the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 50 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling, and this is also the amount stated on the finished product. The physical volume of the bottle up to the rim of the neck is larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the cap or, in another combination, for a dropper or sprayer, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Therefore, fill to the nominal volume, not to the rim. Weigh the exact amount for the first batch on a scale and adjust the filling of subsequent bottles according to the result.

What to know before filling

Before first use, we recommend washing new bottles and caps, rinsing them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leaving them to dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual water in an anhydrous oil or oil serum causes cloudiness and impairs stability.

PET is sensitive to heat. Do not fill the bottle with a hot mixture and do not store it near a heat source, as the material may become deformed. Let emulsions and water phases cool to room temperature before filling. The bottle is not intended for long-term contact with concentrated essential oils, solvents and aggressive chemicals. Diluted essential oils in a carrier oil at common cosmetic usage rates do not cause this problem; at higher concentrations, we recommend a trial filling for several weeks.

The set can be reused. Before refilling, the bottle and cap are washed, disinfected and dried in the same way as for first use. When changing the type of contents, it is better to use a new cap.

For water-based and water-alcohol contents, tighten the cap by hand, without levering it with tools. Excessive force compresses the liner, and on the next opening it may no longer seal in the same way.

The bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP; both materials are commonly recyclable and are separated for disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white plastic pharmaceutical bottle, 50 ml, protect the contents from light?
Partly. White opaque PET lets through less light than clear plastic, so it suits oils and products with light-sensitive active ingredients. It does not provide complete protection, so store the bottle out of direct sunlight. The exact level of light transmission is not available.
Is the plastic pharmaceutical bottle, 50 ml, with a cap suitable for oils?
Yes, the set is suitable for vegetable oils and oil serums. PET is resistant to common cosmetic oils, and when properly tightened, the liner in the cap prevents leaking. For oil blends with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend a trial filling and checking the packaging after several weeks.
Can a tincture or alcohol extract be filled into the white PET bottle, 50 ml?
Yes, the bottle is suitable for toners containing alcohol and for diluted tinctures, as common cosmetic concentrations of ethanol are usual for PET. With high-percentage alcohol or long-term storage, check how the material behaves and how well the cap seals with your specific contents. Exact resistance data for various concentrations are not available.
Why is the 50 ml plastic bottle not filled up to the rim?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 50 ml, not to the rim of the neck. The nominal volume is the amount intended for normal filling, and the actual volume up to the neck is larger. The extra space is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If filled to the rim, the contents would be pushed out when the cap is screwed on or would leak through the thread.
Can I use a closure other than the supplied cap on the plastic pharmaceutical bottle, 50 ml?
Yes, the bottle has a standard neck with the thread stated in the parameters, and closures of the same type can be used with it, for example a dropper or a mini trigger sprayer. For your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation, ideally by a trial filling for several days.
Is the plastic pharmaceutical bottle, 50 ml, with a black cap suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. Only the bottle has a separate certificate for direct food contact; the black cap does not. The set is declared suitable for cosmetic products and is intended for that use.
