Product description

The set of a white PET pharmaceutical bottle, 50 ml, with a black and gold fine mist sprayer with smoky overcap is used for filling and dispensing liquid cosmetics in spray form: facial toners, hydrolates, refreshing face and body sprays, hair sprays and perfumed waters. The bottle is light and unbreakable, so it is also suitable for a handbag or for travel. The sprayer disperses the contents as a fine mist in small doses, which makes even application easier and saves product.

The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle on its own also has a certificate for direct food contact, while the sprayer does not, so the assembly as a whole is used exclusively for cosmetics.

What the set is suitable for

The sprayer is designed for thin, watery liquids. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml, so a full bottle lasts for roughly 350 doses. We recommend it especially for:

  • Toners and hydrolates – the mist spreads over the skin without spreading it with your hands or a cotton pad.
  • Refreshing and setting sprays – aqueous solutions with glycerine, aloe or soluble active ingredients in low concentration.
  • Hair sprays – detangling and conditioning sprays based on water or a light emulsion in a sprayable consistency.
  • Perfumed waters and fresheners – water-alcohol solutions, where it is worth checking compatibility with PET beforehand.

Thick emulsions, creams, gels and pure vegetable oils do not belong in the sprayer. They clog the nozzle, the dose is uneven and the mechanism jams.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 50 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference is a reserve for the dip tube and the body of the sprayer, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. For this reason, fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents are pushed out through the neck when you screw on the sprayer.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water would dilute the contents and introduce microorganisms into them.

The dip tube of the sprayer is longer than the bottle and bends at the bottom. Shorten it with a diagonal cut so that it ends just above the bottom. After filling, press the sprayer several times into the air until the tube fills and the dose is even.

The PET bottle is designed for common aqueous and mildly alcoholic formulations. Do not expose the packaging to aggressive chemicals or heat. With a high proportion of ethanol, undiluted essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking compatibility first on a single piece. Let hot mixtures cool to room temperature before filling.

With every press, the contents are drawn up through the tube and come into contact with air. Aqueous formulations therefore need a functional preservative system.

The set can be used repeatedly. After emptying, rinse the sprayer with clean water, draw it up and spray it out several times so that the nozzle channel is cleaned as well. Dried residues with glycerine or sugars clog the nozzle.

The bottle is made of PET and goes into separately collected plastic waste. The sprayer combines polypropylene, aluminium and other plastics, so separate it from the bottle before recycling.

Closures and sprayers with the same neck type as stated in the parameters can be found in the Handymade range, together with ready-made combinations. If you assemble your own set, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

How many ml does the sprayer on the white 50 ml PET pharmaceutical bottle dispense per press?
One press of the sprayer releases approximately 0.14 ml. A full 50 ml bottle therefore lasts for roughly 350 doses, which with a toner or hydrolate corresponds to several weeks of regular use. A small dose spread into a fine mist is applied evenly and the product does not spill, so the set is also suitable for more expensive formulations where you want to save every millilitre.
Can the sprayer on the PET pharmaceutical bottle be used for an oil spray?
Pure vegetable oils do not belong in this sprayer. The mechanism is designed for thin, watery liquids, thick oils clog it and the dose comes out unevenly. Light oil blends sometimes spray better, but we recommend checking the behaviour of your specific formulation on a single piece before filling larger quantities.
How much liquid should be filled into the 50 ml PET pharmaceutical bottle with sprayer?
Fill up to the nominal volume, that is 50 ml. The remaining space up to the neck is a reserve for the dip tube and the body of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If you fill to the brim, the contents are pushed out through the neck when you screw on the sprayer and part of the formulation is lost.
Is the white PET pharmaceutical bottle with sprayer suitable for alcohol-based toners and perfumed waters?
The bottle tolerates mildly alcoholic solutions; with a high proportion of ethanol, we recommend checking compatibility with PET first. The same recommendation applies to undiluted essential oils and solvents, which are among the aggressive chemicals the packaging should not be exposed to. A few days on a test piece will show whether the packaging deforms and whether the nozzle loses its function.
How do you prepare the PET pharmaceutical bottle with sprayer for repeated use?
Empty the bottle and the sprayer, rinse them with warm water and draw up and spray out clean water through the sprayer so that the nozzle channel is cleaned. Then disinfect both parts with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. If the nozzle clogs with dried residues, it helps to immerse the head in warm water and rinse again.
Can the PET pharmaceutical bottle set with sprayer be used for food, for example for cooking oil?
No, the set as a whole is not declared for food contact. The white PET pharmaceutical bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact, while the sprayer does not, so the assembly is intended only for cosmetic products. For food use, choose a bottle with a closure that is food-grade, just like the bottle itself.
