Product description
This is a ready-made complete packaging set with closure: a white plastic vial-shaped bottle with a volume of 50 ml and a black cream pump dispenser that fits the bottle neck. The set is designed for creams, facial milks, serums and gels that are to be dispensed hygienically, in small amounts and without opening the packaging. The small volume is suitable for trial batches, travel sizes or products that are used up within a few weeks.
The bottle is made of PET, is lightweight and break-resistant, making it suitable for packaging that is sent by post or carried in a bag. The white opaque wall reduces light exposure to the contents, which is an advantage for formulations with more sensitive ingredients, such as vegetable oils or vitamins. The dispenser is made of polypropylene (PP), black with a clear tube, and gives the packaging a clean, neutral appearance that lets the label stand out.
How the set works
The cream dispenser works as a pump with a dip tube that reaches to the bottom of the bottle. Pressing the head draws a small amount of content and dispenses it onto the palm or fingers. One press releases a repeatable dose of approximately 0.12 ml, so the customer uses exactly as much product as needed, and the rest stays in the sealed packaging without contact with hands.
Hygienic dispensing is the main advantage over a jar: no dirt from fingers or air enters the contents with each opening, which helps with formulation stability. However, the dispenser works reliably only with liquid to medium-thick textures. Light emulsions, gels, serums and facial milks pass through it without problems. Thick ointment creams, balms and anhydrous butters with a high proportion of solid fats are drawn up with difficulty or not at all.
We recommend testing the formulation viscosity directly in the set before filling the entire batch. If the product pumps with difficulty or breaks in the tube, reducing the thickening level of the formula or choosing a different type of closure will help.
Nominal and total volume
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, meaning the amount the packaging is designed for at standard filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them forms a reserve for the dispenser tube, which takes up part of the space, and for slight expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If the bottle were filled to the brim, the contents would overflow when attaching the dispenser and the closure might not seat properly.
Preparation and filling
Before first use, we recommend washing and disinfecting the bottle and dispenser with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting them dry completely. It is best to fill through a narrow funnel or from a filling bottle with a thin nozzle, because the vial neck is narrow and thicker textures pour into it slowly. After filling, screw on the dispenser and press it several times until the tube fills and the product begins to flow smoothly.
The dispenser tube is longer than the bottle, so before screwing it on, trim it with a sharp knife so that it reaches to the bottom of the bottle. If it remains too long, the dispenser will not seat properly; if you trim it too much, the last portion of the contents will not be dispensed.
PET tolerates aqueous solutions, emulsions and common cosmetic oils well, but is not intended for aggressive chemicals such as concentrated essential oils, acetone and strong solvents. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or alcohol, we recommend testing the behaviour of the packaging on one unit before filling.
What is good to know
The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The certification for direct food contact applies to the bottle alone, not the dispenser, so the set is intended for cosmetic products and is not used for food as a whole.
The white bottle provides a good surface for a label and thanks to its cylindrical shape the label adheres straight and without wrinkling. The bottle does not tolerate high temperatures, so it is filled only with a cooled product, not a hot emulsion directly after preparation.
The set can be reused, provided that after emptying it is thoroughly washed, rinsed and disinfected, including the dispenser tube, through which warm water and then alcohol can be pumped. When disposing, the PET bottle and the PP dispenser are separated, as they are two different plastics.
Closures with the same neck type as indicated in the parameters, and other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination of packaging and closure, we always recommend verifying the seal integrity, dispensing performance and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
