Product description

The white glass medicine bottle with a capacity of 10 ml and a black lotion pump with a smoky overcap is a ready-made set for filling small volumes of thicker products. The white glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, the pump dispenses the same small dose with every press, and the overcap protects the pump head from dust. Both the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

The 10 ml volume suits eye creams, concentrated serums, travel and trial versions of creams, or products where you want to give the customer a precise dose without fingers touching the contents.

What the set is suitable for

  • Eye creams and lip area creams – they are used in small amounts and the pump makes it easier to apply a suitable dose.
  • Concentrated serums and emulsions – a thicker texture passes smoothly through the pump and the contents are protected from contact with fingers.
  • Samples and travel packs – with a volume of 10 ml, the product is used up quickly and does not stand open for long.
  • Light-sensitive products – white glass helps maintain the stability of ingredients that break down or change colour in light.

How the pump works

The pump draws the contents up through a dip tube from the bottom of the medicine bottle and dispenses approximately 0.14 ml with one full press. For an eye cream or a concentrated serum, this corresponds to the usual amount for a single use. The smoky overcap fits onto the pump head and protects it from dust. During transport, place the pack so that the pump head cannot be pressed.

The pump works best with creams, emulsions and gels of medium thickness. Very thin water-based contents, such as toners, may drip from the pump head, and very firm balms may not be drawn up. Check how your own formulation behaves on the first filled medicine bottle and again after a few days of standing.

The pump dip tube is longer than the medicine bottle. Before the first filling, shorten it with a diagonal cut so that it reaches just above the bottom and does not bend.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 10 ml is the volume the packaging is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them provides a reserve for the dip tube and the pump body, which push part of the contents upwards once screwed on, and for the expansion of the product with temperature changes. For this reason, fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Good to know

Before the first filling, we recommend washing the medicine bottle, disinfecting it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and letting it dry completely. It is enough to rinse the pump with clean water and dry it. Disinfectant reaches its mechanism less easily, so hold it by the body, not by the dip tube, when fitting it.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well. Let a hot emulsion cool to at least lukewarm before filling, otherwise there is a risk of the wall cracking or the plastic parts of the pump being damaged.

Filling is easier with a syringe without a needle or a narrow funnel. The neck is narrow, and when pouring directly from a bowl, thick cream catches on the thread, where it dries and prevents the pump from being tightened.

When pumping the last of the contents, a small residue remains in the medicine bottle below the dip tube. Take this into account when calculating the price per dose and the declared content.

The set is intended for cosmetic products. Once empty, the medicine bottle can be washed and used again, and the pump can be too after rinsing, provided that no residue of oil or pigment has settled in the dip tube. Glass belongs in glass recycling, the pump is made of polypropylene and is sorted as plastic, so separate them before recycling.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white glass medicine bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, white glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents considerably more than clear glass. It is therefore suitable for creams and serums with vitamins, plant extracts or oils that change colour or lose effectiveness in light. Glass does not guarantee complete protection from light, so for very sensitive ingredients, store the pack out of direct sunlight.
How much cream does the lotion pump dispense with one press?
The pump dispenses approximately 0.14 ml with one full press. For an eye cream or a concentrated serum, this corresponds to one application. The actual number of doses from a 10 ml medicine bottle depends on the thickness of the product and on whether the pump head is pressed fully, and part of the contents remains below the dip tube.
Is the lotion pump also suitable for thin serums or toners?
The pump is designed for creams, emulsions and gels, and with thin water-based contents it may drip from the pump head. A light serum with a slightly thickened texture usually passes without problems, while clear toners and hydrosols belong rather in bottles with a fine mist sprayer or a dropper. We recommend checking how your specific formulation behaves on one filled medicine bottle.
Why is the glass medicine bottle with a pump not filled to the brim?
Once the pump is screwed on, the dip tube and the pump body take up part of the space, so the contents rise upwards. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents overflow onto the thread, soil the neck and the pump then does not seal properly. Fill to the nominal volume of 10 ml. The total brimful volume given in the parameters is only information about the physical capacity of the packaging.
Can the glass medicine bottle with a pump be reused?
Yes, once empty, both the medicine bottle and the pump can be washed and filled again. Glass can be washed and disinfected without limitation. Rinse the pump with clean warm water, pump out any residue and let it dry. If residue of a coloured or oil-based product that cannot be rinsed out remains in the dip tube, it is better to replace the pump.
