Product description
Dispensing creams in small, equal amounts without dipping your fingers into the contents. That is the job of this white PET bottle with a volume of 50 ml and a black lotion pump with an 18/415 neck finish. It is filled with creams, face lotions, serums and thicker gels.
The bottle is light, the opaque white plastic limits the light reaching the contents, and the smoky overcap protects the pump head from dust and accidental pressing. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics and is supplied as one piece: the bottle and the pump together, with the same neck type.
How the set works
The pump screws onto the neck of the bottle and the dip tube reaches into the contents. Each press of the head dispenses approximately 0.14 ml, so the customer always uses the same amount and the rest of the product stays closed. This kind of dispensing suits products with active ingredients, where accuracy matters, and creams that should not be repeatedly scooped out of an open jar.
The smoky overcap is clear, so once it is fitted you can see that the head is pushed in and clean. When carrying the bottle in a bag or shipping it, check that the overcap holds firmly.
What it is suitable for
- Face creams and fluids – the contents are dispensed in small amounts, which suits products for the face and décolleté.
- Face and body lotions – the 50 ml volume is enough for a travel pack or a smaller batch when testing a formulation.
- Serums with a gel or cream consistency – the pump releases them without running down the neck.
- Hand creams – they are used often and with one hand, which the pump makes easier.
Very thin liquids, for example toners or watery serums, pass through a lotion pump without resistance and are harder to dispense accurately. A fine mist sprayer or dropper is more suitable for them. Thick butters, balms and products with particles (scrubs, preparations with powder ingredients) can block the pump or may not pass through it at all.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 50 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. Physically, more fits into it, up to the neck. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube and the body of the pump, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. For this reason, fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents are pushed out through the thread after the pump is fitted and the bottle leaks.
Let the finished product cool completely before filling. A warm emulsion has a larger volume and drops in the bottle once it cools, which does not matter with a pump. However, residual heat can deform the thin PET wall.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Pump clean alcohol through the pump several times and then pump it empty, so that no liquid remains in the tube.
Check the dip tube after screwing the pump on. It should reach just above the bottom of the bottle, so that the pump draws up the contents even when the product is running out. If it is longer and bends inside the bottle, shorten it with a diagonal cut using a sharp knife.
The pump is not airless. With every press, air is drawn into the bottle to replace the contents that have been pumped out. Products with a water phase must therefore be preserved. Before filling a larger series, we recommend testing their stability in this packaging.
PET and contents with solvents. For anhydrous products with a high proportion of essential oils, for alcohol-based preparations, or for ingredients that act on plastics, check compatibility on a single piece. Watch for changes in the shape of the bottle, cloudiness, fragrance and leak-tightness after several weeks. Do not expose the packaging to aggressive chemicals.
Only the plastic pharmaceutical bottle, white, 50 ml, on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food. The pump does not have it, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. For home-made oils, syrups or herbal infusions, use a bottle with a closure approved for food.
Other closures. Closures, pumps and droppers with the same neck type, as well as other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the leak-tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
Reuse and recycling. The bottle and the pump can be used again after washing and disinfection. Once empty, wash them in warm water with washing-up liquid, pump clean water through the pump and then ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and leave both parts to dry. If the pump draws weakly after rinsing or the head no longer springs back, replace it with a new one with the same 18/415 neck finish. The bottle is made of PET, the pump of PP. Before disposal, separate them and put each part into plastic waste.
