Amber glass medicine bottle, aluminium cap, 100 ml

This set of an amber glass medicine bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and a silver aluminium cap is used to store liquid cosmetic products that are harmed by light. Amber glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, so such bottles are commonly filled with facial and massage oils, serums, toners, hydrosols, alcohol tinctures or essential oil blends. The cap with an 18/410 neck finish closes the bottle for transport and storage. You then choose how to dispense the contents yourself, either by pouring directly or by replacing the cap with a closure with the same neck finish.

Glass can be refilled repeatedly after washing. The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

• Facial and body oils – light accelerates the oxidation of vegetable oils, and amber glass reduces this exposure.
• Serums and toners – light-sensitive active ingredients, for example vitamin C or retinol, stay protected in dark glass for longer.
• Tinctures and alcohol extracts – dark glass protects the extract from light; for your own formulation, we recommend checking the leak-tightness.
• Essential oil blends and perfume compositions – the 100 ml volume is suitable for larger batches or for products intended for sale.
• Samples and interim storage – until the product is transferred into the final packaging with a pump or dropper.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold when filled normally. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck, and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the closure, dropper or pump and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Cap and dispensing

The aluminium cap has a sealing liner made of EPE, that is, foamed polyethylene, on the inside. The liner sits on the edge of the neck and creates the seal, while the aluminium shell holds its shape and can be tightened by hand. Do not use force when tightening, because the liner can be permanently compressed under excessive pressure and will stop sealing.

The set has no dispensing mechanism of its own. The contents are poured or measured out of the bottle, or the cap is replaced with a dropper, pump or sprayer. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash and disinfect the bottle and let it dry completely. Residual water in the neck or at the bottom can cloud the oil and shortens the shelf life of anhydrous products. It is enough to wipe the cap; do not soak it in water.

The glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food. The aluminium cap does not have such a certificate, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. If you need packaging for homemade oils or syrups, choose a closure with a food-contact certificate for the bottle.

After use, the bottle belongs in glass recycling and the cap in metal; unscrew it from the bottle before disposal.
