Amber Glass Bottle, Silver Aluminium Cap, 10 ml

The amber glass medicine bottle with a volume of 10 ml and the silver aluminium cap with an 18/410 neck finish form a ready-made packaging and closure combination for small volumes: samples of serums and facial oils, essential oil blends, fragrance concentrates or alcohol tinctures. Amber glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, which helps with products that are sensitive to light, such as vegetable and essential oils. The cap closes the bottle by screwing on and suits any use where a dropper or pump is not needed and the contents are poured or measured out of the bottle.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity and certificate are available with the product. The small volume has proved useful for first batches of new formulations and as a travel size.

What it is suitable for

• Samples and test batches – 10 ml holds enough serum, oil or toner for a few days of testing, without having to make a full-size batch.
• Essential oil blends and fragrance concentrates – glass does not react with the contents and the dark colour slows down changes in fragrance caused by light. The concentrate can then be measured out of the medicine bottle into another formulation.
• Alcohol tinctures and extracts – ethanol does not harm glass and the amber colour protects the sensitive components of the extract.
• Oil serums and cuticle oils – thick oils pour slowly and in a controlled way from the narrow neck.
• Anhydrous concentrates of active ingredients – the small volume is used up sooner, the contents do not stand open for months and are exposed less to air.

Volume and filling

Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is intended for under normal filling. Brimful capacity, given in the parameters, is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume and the space above the surface is left free. A medicine bottle filled to the brim overflows when closed and the contents get onto the thread.

Cap and seal

The aluminium cap has an inner liner made of EPE (foamed polyethylene) and is tightened by hand. We always recommend checking that the set seals properly with your specific formulation, especially with essential oils, alcohol blends and before shipping to customers: leave the filled and closed bottle lying on its side on absorbent paper for several days.

Good to know

• Before first filling – wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely, with the bottle neck down.
• Glass and temperature – let a hot mixture cool before filling, as a sudden change in temperature harms glass.
• Reuse – after washing and disinfecting, the glass can be used again without limit. Before reusing the cap, check that the liner is not deformed and does not carry the scent of the previous contents, for example citrus essential oils.
• Recycling – unscrew the cap before disposal; glass and aluminium belong in separate collection.
