Amber Glass Bottle, Lotion Pump, 100 ml

The amber glass medicine bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and a black lotion pump forms ready-to-use packaging for face and body emulsions, serums, fluids and lotions that you want to dispense by pressing, without unscrewing the cap. Amber glass filters light and helps protect light-sensitive contents, for example emulsions with vegetable oils, vitamins or essential oils. The pump dispenses roughly the same amount with every press, the product does not touch your fingers, and less air and fewer impurities get into the bottle during use.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the set as a whole, including the pump, is intended for cosmetic products.

How the set works

• Lotion pump – a pump with a head and a long tube that reaches the bottom of the bottle. One press dispenses approximately 0.12 ml, which corresponds to a small dose of facial serum or light cream.
• Amber glass – filters light and slows down changes in the contents that light speeds up.
• Clear part of the head – the pump is black with clear elements, while the overall look of the bottle stays dark and neutral.

Suitable for products such as

The lotion pump works best with contents of low to medium viscosity: facial serums with a water base or an emulsion base, light day and night creams, fluids, face and body lotions, gel creams and liquid foundations. The pump will not draw up thick creams, butters and balms that do not pour at room temperature, or will dispense them unevenly. A jar is more suitable for such products.

Dispensing is possible with oil serums and pure oils, but with very runny contents the head may keep dripping after pressing. We recommend testing how your particular formulation behaves in the pump on a trial sample before filling larger quantities.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical capacity of the glass up to the neck. The difference between the two provides room for the tube and the body of the pump and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled only up to the nominal volume. If it is filled to the brim, part of the contents will overflow when the pump is screwed on.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the pump with warm water, or pump ethanol through it, and let it drain. Residual water in the tube would dilute the first doses of the product and, with emulsions that are not sufficiently preserved, increases the risk of microbial contamination.

The pump is made of polypropylene, so let the emulsion cool to room temperature before screwing it on. The plastic in the head and the tube comes into contact with the contents. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend testing the tightness and the behaviour of the pump over several weeks.

After thorough washing, the bottle can be reused. The pump is harder to clean between fillings, so for a new product with a different preservation system it is safer to use a new one. The bottle belongs in glass recycling and the pump in plastic recycling; separate them before disposal.
