Product description

The blue glass bottle 15 ml with a black screw cap is a small container for liquid preparations that need protection from light. Blue glass reduces the access of daylight to the contents, helping to maintain the stability of facial and hair oils, serums and blends with essential oils. It is suitable for smaller doses, samples, travel packaging or for preparations that will be used up within a few weeks. The set consists of a glass vial and a simple plastic cap that closes the bottle and protects the contents from spilling and dust.

What the set offers

Protection from light – blue glass transmits less light than clear glass, which is an advantage for oils prone to oxidation and for preparations with essential oils or plant extracts.
Glass without interaction with the contents – glass does not react with oils, alcohol or aqueous solutions and does not absorb scent, so the bottle can be used for different contents after cleaning.

How to work with the set

The cap is screwed onto the bottle neck and the sealing insert made of expanded polyethylene (EPE) seats against the rim of the neck. Tighten it evenly and without excessive force. The seal is ensured by the insert seating properly; excessive force can deform it. As this is a closure without a dispenser, it is suitable for preparations that are poured into the palm or decanted, or for temporary storage before filling into the final packaging.

If you need to dispense the contents drop by drop or spray it, the bottle has a standard neck 18/410. Droppers, sprayers and ready-made combinations of bottle + cap with the same neck type are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle will push contents onto the thread when capped and the cap will then seal less effectively.

Nominal and total volume

For every container, two values are distinguished. Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is intended for during normal filling, in this case 15 ml. Total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is always larger. The difference between them is headspace for the cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes, not space for filling. Both values are listed in the product parameters.

Suitable for products such as

Facial and hair oils – particularly unsaturated oils that oxidise easily.
Oil serums and essential oil blends in a carrier oil – the smaller volume matches typical consumption before the scent or active ingredients lose quality.
Perfume oils and concentrates – the vial shape and dark glass are suited for storing fragrance blends during maturation.
Samples and test batches – for storing a reference sample from production or for a trial batch of a formulation before producing a larger quantity.
Alcoholic plant extracts for cosmetics – glass does not react with alcohol and the cap seals the extract tightly.

Good to know

Before first use wash the bottle and cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual moisture in an anhydrous oil is an unnecessary risk of microbial growth.

Reuse is straightforward with glass. Check the cap with the foam insert after prolonged use. If the insert has lost its elasticity or has absorbed the scent of the previous contents, it is better to replace it.

Label for a narrow cylindrical bottle: the bottle dimensions can be found in the product parameters. For small containers, a slim label with the name and production date works well; more detailed information is better placed on a box or an enclosed leaflet.

Glass and heat: do not pour hot mixtures into the bottle and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes, for example pouring hot contents into a cold bottle.

With concentrated essential oils, pure fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the cap's sealing insert. Glass is resistant to them; the plastic insert may soften or change shape with prolonged contact with concentrates.

Recycling: the bottle belongs in glass recycling, the cap in plastics. Separate them before sorting.

Frequently asked questions

Does a blue glass bottle protect the contents from light as well as a brown one?

Blue glass reduces some light and protects the contents better than clear glass; brown glass blocks ultraviolet radiation more effectively. For everyday facial oils, serums and fragrance blends, a blue bottle is sufficient, especially if stored away from direct sunlight. For particularly sensitive ingredients, such as certain vitamins, it is advisable to additionally protect the packaging with a box.

Can the 15 ml glass bottle with a black cap be used for essential oils?

Yes, glass is resistant to essential oils and the bottle is commonly used for storing them. However, a pure essential oil or concentrated fragrance composition may affect the foam insert of the cap with prolonged contact. With diluted blends in a carrier oil there is no issue; with concentrates we recommend checking the cap periodically.

How much liquid can actually be filled into a bottle with a nominal volume of 15 ml?

The bottle is filled to 15 ml, which is its nominal volume. The total brimful volume is higher, but this space is not intended for filling. When filled to the brim, contents leak onto the thread after capping and the cap does not seal.

Is a plain cap suitable for dispensing serum or oil?

A plain cap only closes the bottle; it does not dispense. Contents are poured from the vial by tilting it, which with the narrow neck allows fairly precise pouring of a small amount into the palm. If you need drop-by-drop dispensing or spraying, choose a dropper or sprayer with the same 18/410 neck type from the Handymade range.

How to prepare the glass bottle and cap for reuse?

Wash the bottle with warm water and a mild detergent, rinse, disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry completely upside down. Wash the cap the same way, but without hot water so the foam insert does not deform. If the insert smells of the previous contents, replace the cap as it would transfer the scent to the new filling.

Is the 15 ml bottle suitable for aqueous preparations, for example facial toner?

Yes, glass is suitable for aqueous, alcoholic and oil-based contents. For aqueous preparations without a preservative, a short shelf life and thorough disinfection of the bottle before filling should be expected. For a toner or hydrolat, a sprayer closure is more practical; a plain cap is better suited for pouring or storage.
