Product description

A 30 ml glass bottle with a dropper is a set designed for dispensing serums, facial oils, tinctures and essential oil blends, that is, products that are applied drop by drop and need protection from light. Blue glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, which slows down changes in oils, antioxidants and aroma compounds. The small volume suits recipes where only a few drops are used per application.

The bottle is a medicine bottle with a narrow neck and comes with a white and gold dropper that screws directly onto the thread. The set is supplied as a ready-made pair, so there is no need to look for a closure with the same neck. Both the bottle and the dropper are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not intended for foodstuffs.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial and hair serums – water-based and oil-based serums with active ingredients, dispensed in a few drops per use.
  • Facial and body oils – blends of vegetable oils, where blue glass limits the effect of light on oxidation.
  • Essential oil blends and fragrance compositions – the dropper allows you to count drops precisely when diluting or preparing your own blends.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol and the dropper makes it easier to dispense small amounts.
  • Samples and test batches – the small volume is enough for trial recipes that are evaluated over several weeks.

How the dropper works

The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb, a white plastic thread and a gold aluminium shell. The tube reaches almost to the bottom of the bottle, so the product can be drawn up even when the contents are running low. When dispensing, tilt the bottle slightly, squeeze the bulb and, once you release it, the contents are drawn into the tube. The size of the drop depends on the viscosity of the product: thicker oils form larger drops, while water-based serums form smaller and faster ones.

The dropper seals via the thread. When transporting the bottle, keep it upright; the dropper is not designed as a travel closure and may leak under prolonged pressure from the contents.

Good to know

Nominal and total volume. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them leaves room for the dropper tube, which pushes part of the contents upwards once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the tube would introduce moisture into an anhydrous oil or serum.

Reuse. Once empty, the glass can be washed and used again. For the dropper, check the silicone part, which may change over time with frequent contact with concentrated essential oils or solvents. With such contents it is more sensible to replace the dropper than to risk leaking.

Glass and heat. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents and avoid sudden temperature changes, for example moving it straight from the fridge to hot water. Let oils and serums cool to room temperature before filling.

The dropper combines several materials, so it does not belong in glass recycling. The bottle is sorted as glass and the dropper separately as mixed material.

Other closures. You will find replacement droppers, caps or sprayers with the same neck type, as well as ready-made combinations, in the Handymade range. If you put together your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does a blue glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, blue glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents and slows down changes in sensitive ingredients, such as the oxidation of vegetable oils and the evaporation of aroma compounds. It is not complete protection from light, so store the bottle away from direct sunlight. For products with sensitive active ingredients, the composition of the formulation and its preservation are also decisive.
How much product can I fill into a 30 ml bottle with a dropper?
The bottle with a dropper is filled to the nominal volume of 30 ml, not to the brim. Once screwed in, the dropper tube takes up part of the space and pushes the contents upwards, so if the bottle is overfilled, the product may overflow when you close it. The total volume to the brim is larger and only describes the physical size of the bottle, not the filling amount.
Is the dropper suitable for essential oil blends?
Yes, a glass bottle with a dropper is commonly used for essential oil blends, and the dropper makes it easier to count drops. Glass does not react with concentrated oils. The silicone bulb and the plastic parts of the dropper may change with long-term contact with some essential oils, so check the dropper regularly when using concentrates and replace it if it softens or starts to leak.
Can I use the bottle with a dropper for a water-based serum with active ingredients?
Yes, both the bottle and the dropper are suitable for water-based serums, tonics and hydrosols. Water-based products must be preserved, because the dropper comes into contact with the skin or the air each time it is used and may introduce microorganisms into the product. Disinfect the bottle before filling and let it dry.
How do I clean the glass bottle and the dropper before reuse?
Wash the bottle in warm water with washing-up liquid, rinse it and disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Rinse the tube and the bulb of the dropper with alcohol and let all parts dry completely. For oily contents, pre-washing with alcohol helps to dissolve oil residues. Replace a dropper with a hardened or deformed silicone part.
