Product description
The blue glass bottle with a dropper and a volume of 15 ml is used for filling and dispensing liquid preparations drop by drop. Blue glass partly reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, so it suits facial serums, face and hair oils, or blends of essential oils in a carrier oil, that is, preparations that are dispensed precisely and in small amounts. The small volume also works well for samples, test batches of a new recipe, and travel.
The white and gold dropper has a length matched to this bottle. The set is supplied as a bottle and a dropper together, so you do not need to buy the closure separately or match it by thread.
What the set consists of
- Bottle – blue glass medicine bottle with an 18 mm neck (18/410 neck finish). Glass does not react with oils, alcohol or aqueous solutions and does not absorb odours, so the contents keep their original character.
- Dropper – glass tube, the remaining parts are made of silicone, plastic (PP) and aluminium. The gold and white colours complement the blue glass, which is useful for gift packs or for your own small brand.
What it is suitable for
The dropper dispenses drop by drop and works best with liquid and slightly thicker contents. Face oils, oil serums, or serums with a lower proportion of thickener flow from it evenly, and several drops can be measured at once. Very thin contents, such as toners or hydrosols, run through the dropper quickly, and a fine mist sprayer is often more suitable for them. Creams, thick gels and balms do not belong in a dropper, as the tube cannot draw them up.
At a volume of 15 ml, the set is often used for concentrated preparations of which only a few drops are used per day: oil serums with active ingredients, eyebrow and eyelash serum, cuticle oil, or blends of essential oils for refilling a diffuser or roll-on.
Filling and volume
The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for with normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them forms a reserve for the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.
Fill to the nominal volume of 15 ml, not to the brim. If the bottle is full, the contents are pushed out through the thread when the dropper is inserted, which soils the collar and the closure then does not seal.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the tube or at the bottom of the bottle would get into an anhydrous oil-based preparation and shorten its stability.
The glass withstands normal filling temperatures, but it should not be filled with hot contents or exposed to a sudden change of temperature. Let the contents cool before filling, and do not move the bottle straight from the fridge under hot water.
The set can be used repeatedly. The dropper can be taken apart, and the tube and the bulb are rinsed with warm water with a small amount of washing-up liquid, or with alcohol, and left to dry away from a heat source.
When storing blends of pure essential oils for a long time, do not leave the dropper screwed on permanently as a closure unless you have tested its resistance with the given blend. The silicone and plastic parts of the dropper may not withstand prolonged contact with a concentrated blend, and the closure then stops sealing.
A declaration of suitability for contact with cosmetic products is available for the dropper. For the bottle itself, this information is not available.
Other closures with the same thread type from the Handymade range also fit the 18/410 neck, and ready-made combinations of the bottle with a different closure have their own description.
Once emptied and rinsed, the bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper is made of several materials, so it does not go into glass and is sorted separately.
