Product description

A glass bottle with a capacity of 100 ml fitted with a cream pump forms a ready-to-use container for liquid to medium-viscosity products dispensed in small amounts. Glass is inert to its contents, does not absorb scent or colour, and tolerates formulations containing essential oils or alcohol. The pump delivers a small, consistent dose with each press, so the product is never contaminated by fingers as with a jar.

The black pump is protected by a smoke-coloured dust cap, which prevents accidental dispensing during transport and keeps the pump head clean. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

  • Lotions and light creams – liquid to medium-viscosity emulsions that the pump draws up through the dip tube from the bottom.
  • Serums and gels – a small dose per press makes it easy to dispense concentrated products sparingly.
  • Facial and body oils – glass does not absorb oil or scent, and the pump delivers it in small, controlled doses.
  • Liquid cleansing products – cleansing gels, cleansing milks and oils dispensed into the palm or onto a cotton pad.

For thin water-based or alcohol-based contents intended to be dispersed as a mist, a cream pump is not suitable: it delivers a stream, not a mist. For toners and sprays, a fine mist sprayer is a better choice.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. Total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference serves as headspace for the pump mechanism with its dip tube and for expansion of the contents with changes in temperature.

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the pump when inserted will push the contents out through the neck and contaminate the thread.

What to know before filling

Before first use, the bottle is washed, disinfected with izopropylalkohol or etanol and left to dry completely. The dispenser is rinsed by pumping the disinfectant solution through it several times, then also left to dry. Disinfecting the container does not replace preservation. Each press lets air into the bottle, so products containing water require an effective preservation system.

The length of the dip tube should be checked before filling. If it bends noticeably at the bottom, it can be trimmed with an angled cut to prevent it from suctioning against the base. On first use, the pump must be pressed several times until the tube fills and the product begins to dispense.

It is advisable to test the product consistency on a small sample before filling the entire batch. Very thick creams, butters, and products containing solid particles (scrubs) will not be drawn up by the pump or will clog it.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Hot contents should therefore not be poured into a cold bottle, and when hot-filling, the bottle should be gently pre-warmed first. With a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, it is advisable to verify the pump's behaviour with the specific formulation.

The dimensions needed for label design are listed in the bottle's specifications. Before sorting for recycling, the pump should be separated from the bottle: glass goes with glass, the pump goes with plastics.

Closures and food contact

Further closures with the same neck type as stated in the specifications, as well as ready-made combinations, are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing, and container performance with the specific formulation.

A food-contact certificate for direct contact with foodstuffs is held by the glass bottle on its own. The pump does not have one, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic use.

Frequently asked questions

What products is the 100 ml glass bottle with cream pump suitable for?
It is suitable for liquid to medium-viscosity cosmetic products dispensed in small amounts: facial and body lotions, light creams, serums, gels, and oils. For very thick creams, butters, and particle scrubs, a jar is more appropriate. For toners and sprays intended to be dispersed as a mist, a fine mist sprayer is more appropriate.
Can the bottle with a cream pump be filled all the way to the brim?
No, the bottle is filled only to the nominal volume. The space between the nominal and total volume is headspace for the pump mechanism and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the neck, the pump when inserted will push the product out and contaminate the thread.
Is the glass bottle with cream pump suitable for food use as well?
The set as a whole is not intended for food use; it is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The food-contact certificate for direct food contact is held only by the glass bottle itself; the pump does not have one. For food use, the bottle must therefore be combined with a closure that holds its own food-contact certificate.
Can the cream pump handle a thick cream or oil?
Oil, lotion, and a light cream it can handle; a very thick cream it cannot. The pump draws product up through the dip tube from the bottom, so the contents must be fluid enough to flow down to the tube. Solid butters, balms, and products with solid particles will clog it. Borderline consistencies are best tested on a sample before filling the entire batch.
Can the glass bottle with cream pump be reused?
The glass bottle can be reused: simply wash it thoroughly, sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave to dry. The pump is more difficult to clean, as product residue remains inside the mechanism and in the dip tube. For products intended for sale or when changing the formulation, it is therefore recommended to use a new pump with the same neck type.
