The cap protects the nozzle from dust and accidental pressing, while also allowing you to see whether the sprayer is seated correctly.

How the sprayer doses

When the pump is pressed, the sprayer delivers a small repeatable dose of approximately 0.12 ml as a fine mist, so the preparation is applied evenly and without excess. This dosing is advantageous for tonics and mists, where the customer does not want the skin to be wet, only moistened. The sprayer works reliably with contents that have a consistency close to water.

Filling and volume

The stated volume is the nominal volume, i.e. the quantity for which the container is designed for normal filling. The total volume to the brim is larger, as the bottle has physical space up to the neck. This difference is not a defect but a reserve for the dip tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is filled right up to the neck, part of the contents will be pushed out when the sprayer is screwed on and the thread will become soiled.

Material, light and content compatibility

The bottle is made of brown PET. The brown plastic attenuates light, which helps with light-sensitive contents such as hydrolats, vitamins or plant extracts. It is not a complete barrier, so do not store filled containers in direct sunlight.

PET tolerates aqueous preparations, hydrolats and common hydroalcoholic solutions. With contents with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, the plastic may soften, become cloudy or absorb the scent over time. The sprayer is made of PP, which is more resistant to oils, but its mechanism is not designed for dispensing them. We recommend verifying the compatibility of a specific formula on a single unit over several weeks before larger-scale filling.

The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle holds a food-contact certificate individually, but the sprayer does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics, not for food.

Preparation, reuse and label

Before the first fill, the bottle and sprayer are washed and disinfected, for example with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and left to dry completely. Moisture in the container could compromise the preservation of an aqueous preparation. After disinfection, pump the sprayer several times with clean water and then empty, to remove any residual disinfectant solution from the tube and nozzle.

The set can be reused. Unscrew the sprayer, wash both parts in warm water with a small amount of mild detergent, rinse the tube by pumping and let everything dry. Avoid hot water and dishwashers — PET deforms at higher temperatures. If the container previously held a strongly aromatic preparation, the plastic may retain its scent. For pure hydrolats, a new unit is then preferable.

The bottle has a straight body on which a label can be applied. The dimensions of the bottle can be found in the parameters. When recycling, the two parts are separated: the bottle belongs with PET plastics and the sprayer with PP plastics.
