Product description

The amber plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a white and gold fine mist sprayer is ready-made packaging for 10 ml of toner, hydrolate, eau de parfum or a sample of your own formulation. Amber PET limits the amount of light reaching the contents, and the bottle is light and does not break in a handbag or in travel luggage. The sprayer applies the contents in fine doses straight onto the skin or hair.

The set consists of a bottle and a sprayer with an 18/415 neck finish that fit together exactly, so there is no need to look for a closure separately. The sprayer is made of PP plastic and aluminium, and the white and gold glossy finish gives the small pack an appearance suitable for samples and gift sets as well. The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the set with the sprayer is intended for cosmetic products.

Suitable uses

  • Toners and hydrolates – low-viscosity water-based preparations pass through the nozzle without problems, and the amber bottle protects them from light.
  • Eau de parfum and fragrance samples – the 10 ml volume corresponds to a travel or trial size, and the sprayer applies a fine layer.
  • Hair and body sprays – light preparations without an oil base, for example sprays with glycerine or aqueous solutions of active ingredients.
  • Samples for customers – a small pack for trying out a formulation before buying a larger volume.

Filling and dispensing

The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume, that is, the volume it is designed for in normal use. The total volume to the brim is larger, and the difference leaves room for the sprayer’s dip tube and pump mechanism. A bottle filled to the neck overflows when the sprayer is screwed on and soils the thread.

One press of the sprayer releases approximately 0.14 ml of the contents, which corresponds to a fine mist for one application to the face or décolleté area. A full pack therefore delivers several dozen doses, and the exact number depends on the density and viscosity of the preparation. Before first use, the sprayer usually needs to be primed with two to three presses until the dip tube fills.

Before the first filling, compare the length of the sprayer’s dip tube with the height of the bottle. The dip tube is longer than the bottle, so shorten it with an angled cut so that it reaches just above the bottom. A dip tube that is too long bends in the bottle, the sprayer cannot be tightened and part of the contents remains unused.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash both the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the dip tube or in the nozzle can compromise the microbial stability of a water-based preparation, so press the sprayer several times without liquid before assembly.

The PET bottle is intended for water-based and light preparations. Contents with a higher proportion of undiluted essential oils, solvents or strongly acidic or alkaline ingredients may put long-term strain on the plastic. For such formulations, we recommend testing how the packaging behaves on a sample over several weeks. The sprayer is not designed for thick oils or creamy textures; the nozzle would clog and the dose would be uneven.

The sprayer does not have a food-contact certificate. For home-made oils, syrups or herbal infusions, use the bottle on its own with a closure that has its own food-contact certificate. The set with the sprayer is intended for cosmetics only.

After thorough washing and disinfection, you can reuse the bottle. For the sprayer, reuse depends on whether the dip tube and nozzle can be rinsed thoroughly enough to remove the previous contents. The PET bottle goes in sorted plastic waste, and the sprayer combines PP and aluminium, so it is separated from the bottle before recycling.

Closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle and closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 10 ml amber plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a sprayer suitable for hydrolates and toners?
Yes, low-viscosity water-based preparations are the most suitable type of contents for this set. Amber PET limits the light that harms hydrolates and toners containing active ingredients, and the sprayer applies them as an even mist. Water-based contents must be properly preserved, as the packaging alone does not ensure microbial stability.
How many doses does the sprayer deliver from a 10 ml bottle?
One press releases approximately 0.14 ml, so a full pack delivers several dozen doses. The actual number depends on the viscosity of the preparation, on the amount that remains in the dip tube and on how firmly the sprayer is pressed. With thicker solutions, the dose may be smaller or uneven.
Can alcohol-based perfume be filled into a plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a sprayer?
Yes, but test it on a sample first. A PET bottle should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals, so for eau de parfum with a high proportion of essential oils or undiluted fragrance compositions, fill a smaller sample first and check over several weeks whether the plastic turns cloudy or the sprayer starts to seal less well.
Is the bottle and sprayer set also suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The amber PET bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact, while the sprayer has no such declaration. For food use, the bottle therefore needs to be combined with a closure that has its own food-contact certificate.
How do I prepare the bottle and sprayer before the first filling?
Wash both parts, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Press the sprayer several times without liquid so that any residual water leaves the dip tube and nozzle, and check that the dip tube does not extend past the bottom of the bottle. Then fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim, and tighten the sprayer by hand without using tools.
