Product description

This amber plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a volume of 10 ml and a white and silver pump is ready-made packaging for small quantities of liquid and semi-liquid cosmetics. The bottle is made of amber PET, which dampens light and so helps protect contents that are sensitive to sunlight. With each press the pump dispenses the same small dose, so the contents do not spill and are applied without touching them with your fingers. The set is particularly suitable for serums, facial oils and samples, where precise dispensing of a small amount matters.

The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle on its own also has a certificate for direct food contact, but the pump does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

What the set is suitable for

A volume of 10 ml suits products that are used by the drop and consumed within a few weeks. Dark packaging makes sense wherever the formulation contains light-sensitive ingredients.

  • Eye and facial serums – a small dose is enough for the eye area or the whole face, and the dip tube draws up liquid serums without difficulty.
  • Facial oils and oil serums – especially oils containing essential oils or vitamins, where protection from light is important.
  • Samples and travel sizes – the customer can try the product from packaging with a pump, without spills and without a dropper.
  • Spot treatments for blemishes – liquid formulations with active ingredients that are applied to a specific spot and need a small, repeatable amount.

The pump with a dip tube is intended for liquid to medium-thick contents. Thick creams, butters or high-viscosity gels cannot be drawn up through the narrow tube, and the pump works without dispensing anything.

How to work with the set

The bottle and the pump have the same neck finish, so they fit together exactly. Screw the pump on after filling and tighten it by hand. When using it for the first time, press the pump several times until the tube fills and the contents start to come out. One press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml, which is several drops from a dropper.

The dip tube of the pump is longer than the height of the bottle. Before the first filling, shorten it so that it ends just above the bottom. A tube pressed against the bottom would block the intake.

Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The total volume up to the neck is larger, and the difference is a reserve for the tube and the pump head. An overfilled bottle will push the contents out through the neck when you screw on the pump.

The pump is white with a glossy silver detail and a clear overcap, which protects the head from being pressed accidentally in a bag. The body is made of polypropylene, and the metallic look comes from the aluminium part.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the packaging, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely. The pump is harder to clean than the bottle, because residues of the formulation remain in the tube and the valve. For repeated use, rinse it with warm water by pressing the pump repeatedly, and then let it dry.

The packaging is intended for common cosmetic formulations, whether oil-based, water-based or emulsions. With a high proportion of essential oils, solvents or alcohol, we recommend checking in advance how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation, ideally on a single piece over several weeks. Hot contents do not belong in a PET bottle; fill it only after the contents have cooled to room temperature.

You can also combine the same bottle with other closures that have the same neck finish, which is stated in the parameters. You will find ready-made bottle + closure combinations in the Handymade range. With your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your formulation.

The bottle is made of PET and can be recycled. The pump combines plastic with aluminium, so unscrew it before recycling and sort it separately.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 10 ml amber plastic pharmaceutical bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber PET lets through less light than clear plastic and slows down light-induced changes in oils, serums and products with sensitive active ingredients. The protection is not complete, so do not store the packaging in direct sunlight. For ingredients that are extremely light-sensitive, dark packaging is one of the conditions for stability, not the only one.
What products can be dispensed with the plastic pump on the 10 ml pharmaceutical bottle?
The pump handles liquid and medium-thick formulations: water-based and gel serums, facial oils, oil serums, light emulsions and liquid spot treatments. Thick creams and butters will not pass through the tube. If your formulation is close to the limit of thickness, fill one piece first and test the dispensing before filling the whole batch.
How much of the contents does the plastic pump on the 10 ml pharmaceutical bottle dispense with one press?
One full press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml, which corresponds to several drops from a dropper. The actual dose depends on the thickness of the contents and on whether the pump is completely primed. With thicker serums the dose tends to be slightly smaller, and the first presses after filling only serve to draw the contents up into the tube.
Can the 10 ml plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a pump be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the pump can be used again after washing and disinfection. It is enough to wash the bottle and disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Rinse the pump with warm water by pressing it repeatedly and let it dry, so that no residues of the previous contents remain in the tube and the valve. When changing the type of formulation, for example from an oil to a water-based serum, a new pump is the safer choice.
Is the set of an amber 10 ml pharmaceutical bottle with a pump suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Only the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the pump does not have such a certificate. With this pump, the packaging is therefore for cosmetic products only. The whole set is nevertheless declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.
Why is the 10 ml pharmaceutical bottle not filled to the brim?
A reserve must remain above the nominal volume for the tube and the pump head, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle were filled to the brim, part of the contents would be pushed out through the neck when the pump is screwed on, and the packaging could leak. The nominal volume of 10 ml is the quantity the packaging is designed for in normal filling.
