Product description

A plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a volume of 10 ml and a black fine mist sprayer is used for dispensing thin liquids in small quantities. Amber PET limits the amount of light reaching the contents, so it suits hydrolates, facial mists and toners whose ingredients change in light. The plastic is light and does not break in a handbag or during transport. The set is therefore most often used for samples, testers, travel packs and small production runs for sale.

The set consists of a bottle and a sprayer with an 18/415 neck finish, which matches the neck of the bottle. Both parts are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the bottle has a separate certificate for direct food contact; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

How the set dispenses

The sprayer works mechanically. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml of the contents as a fine mist, which is enough to refresh the skin once, dampen the hair or apply toner to a cotton pad. With such a small bottle volume, the dose is easy to control and the contents are not wasted.

The dip tube of the sprayer reaches all the way to the bottom, so almost all of the contents can be used. Only a thin liquid will spray: water, hydrolate, toner or a very thin water-based serum. Oils and thick solutions are not sprayed by the mechanism; they remain in the nozzle or come out as a stream instead of a mist.

The dip tube is supplied longer than the bottle is tall. Before the first assembly, shorten it with a sharp knife so that, once the sprayer is screwed on, it ends just above the bottom.

What it is suited for

  • Facial mists and hydrolates – a small pack for travelling or a sample to go with a larger product.
  • Toners and perfumed waters for hair – thin water-based preparations that are applied by spraying.
  • Testers for customers – the same contents as in the large pack, but in a volume that is worth giving away or adding to an order.
  • Trial batches – when developing a formulation, it is enough to mix a few millilitres and immediately test how the preparation behaves when sprayed.

Nominal volume and filling margin

The nominal volume is the quantity the packaging is designed for in normal filling. The volume of the bottle up to the rim of the neck is slightly larger. The difference is needed for the dip tube and the lower part of the sprayer, which take up part of the space once screwed on. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim. If it is filled to the neck, the contents are pushed out when the sprayer is screwed on and remain on the thread.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. The same procedure applies for repeated use. Spray clean water through the sprayer several times and then alcohol, so that no residues of the previous contents settle in the dip tube.

Do not expose the bottle to aggressive chemicals that can damage the plastic. For a new formulation, we recommend a trial filling and a check after a few weeks to see whether the wall of the bottle changes in appearance and whether the sprayer still seals.

Amber PET limits light, but it does not replace protection from heat. Do not leave the bottle in the sun or in a heated car, and store it at 5–30 °C, in a dry and clean place.

Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation. When sorting waste, the PET bottle and the PP sprayer are separated; the material is marked with a code on each component.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber colour of the PET limits the penetration of light to the contents. It is therefore suitable for hydrolates, toners with plant extracts and perfumed waters whose fragrance and colour change in light. No clear or tinted bottle gives complete protection from light, so the contents should still be stored out of direct sunlight and away from sources of heat.
Can oil be sprayed from a plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a sprayer?
No, the sprayer is intended for thin water-based liquids and does not spray oil into a mist. The oil either stays in the nozzle or comes out as a stream of drops. For oil serums and massage oils, a bottle with a dropper or a pump is more suitable; you can find these in the Handymade range.
How many doses does a 10 ml pharmaceutical bottle with a sprayer provide?
At a dose of approximately 0.14 ml per press, a full bottle provides roughly 60–70 presses. The actual number depends on the viscosity of the contents, on how precisely the dip tube has been shortened, and on the residue that remains in the dip tube. With thin water-based preparations, almost all of the contents can be used.
Is a plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a sprayer suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products. Only the amber PET bottle has a separate certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer has no such assessment. Both parts are declared suitable for cosmetics, and the declaration of conformity and the certificate are provided with the product.
How do you clean a plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a sprayer before reuse?
Wash the bottle with warm water and a small amount of cleaning product, rinse it thoroughly and disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Spray clean water through the sprayer first and then alcohol, so that both the dip tube and the nozzle are flushed. Leave both parts to air-dry, and only then fill them with new contents. Hot water and a dishwasher are not recommended for PET.
