Product description

The plastic bottle with a flip top cap, 115 ml, is a ready-made set for filling with liquid and slightly thickened cosmetic products that are dispensed without unscrewing the cap. Amber PET filters light, so it suits contents containing oils, plant extracts or essential oils, which change colour or scent in the light. The plastic is lightweight and does not break when dropped, which you will appreciate for bathroom products, travel or shipping to customers.

The medicine bottle shape with a narrower 18/410 neck keeps the contents under control when pouring, and the white flip top can be opened with one finger. The cap and the bottle have the same thread type and are supplied together as a set ready for filling. The packaging is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; you will find the declaration of conformity on the product page.

What the set is suitable for

Shower gels and liquid soaps – the flip top dispenses straight into the palm, and the 115 ml volume suits a travel size or a larger sample.
Shampoos and conditioners – thin to medium-thick textures flow out of the opening with a gentle squeeze of the bottle.
Body and massage oils – they are dispensed drop by drop or in a thin stream, without a dropper.
Facial toners and hair tonics, micellar waters – liquid water-based products that do not need a sprayer and are applied to a cotton pad or into the palm.
Make-up removers and cleansing emulsions – lighter emulsions pass through the opening easily, while thick creams are difficult to dispense through a flip top.

How to use the packaging

The flip top has a small dispensing opening through which the contents flow out when the bottle is tilted or gently squeezed. After use the cap snaps shut, the opening is closed and the contents do not dry out. In a bag or cosmetics pouch, a snapped-shut flip top does not open on its own. With very thin water-based contents, bear in mind that the first dose may flow out faster after opening, so tilt the bottle gradually.

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is intended for in normal filling. The brimful capacity, that is the physical content of the bottle up to the neck, is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents are pushed into the thread when the bottle is closed and the flip top does not seal as it should.

Fill with cooled contents and leave a reserve in the neck. Emulsions that are finished while hot should be left to cool completely before filling. The packaging should be protected from heat and stored at 5–30 °C.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the packaging, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. This also applies to the cap, as water stays in the thread and in the dispensing opening. After thorough washing, you can reuse the bottle and the flip top. When changing the contents, check that no scent or residue of the original product has remained in the cap.

PET tolerates common cosmetic formulations, both water-based and oil-based. With high concentrations of essential oils, with fragrance compositions and with contents containing solvents, we recommend checking how the packaging behaves with your specific recipe before you fill the entire batch. The packaging must not be exposed to aggressive chemicals.

The plastic bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The flip top cap is declared suitable for cosmetics only, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

Do not use the set with the flip top cap for food, cooking oils or syrups. The food-contact approval applies only to the bottle without this closure.

The bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP. For recycling, separate the two parts and put them in the plastics bin.

Yes, the amber colour of the PET filters light and slows its effect on sensitive ingredients. Still, protect the packaging from direct sunlight and do not leave it on a sunny windowsill for long periods.

For thick textures, a jar or a bottle with a pump is more suitable.

Can the plastic medicine bottle with a flip top cap be used for food?

Not as a complete set – it is intended for cosmetics. The bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact, while the white flip top cap is declared suitable for cosmetic products only. If you need packaging for homemade oils or syrups, choose a closure with a food-contact certificate for the bottle.

Does the PET bottle withstand essential oils and alcohol-based contents?

PET tolerates common cosmetic formulations with the usual proportion of essential oils. With concentrated essential oils, pure fragrance compositions and products with a high proportion of alcohol or solvents, we recommend testing one filled bottle beforehand and checking the seal, any plastic odour and the surface of the plastic. Aggressive chemicals do not belong in this packaging.

Can I reuse the bottle and the cap?

Yes, after thorough washing and disinfection with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Rinse the dispensing opening of the cap so that no residue of the original product remains in it, and leave everything to dry completely. When changing the type of contents, for example from an oil to a tonic, check that the plastic has not taken on the scent of the previous product.
