Product description

The amber plastic bottle with sprayer is a ready-to-use set for liquid cosmetic products that are applied by spraying. The plastic medicine bottle has a capacity of 50 ml and is made of PET, and the amber tint reduces light exposure, which helps protect contents that are sensitive to sunlight. The plastic is lightweight and unbreakable, so the bottle is ideal for a handbag, for travel and for selling in smaller batches. The black fine mist sprayer with 18/415 neck finish gives the set a uniform dark look and disperses the contents into a fine mist.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The certificate for direct food contact applies to the bottle alone; the sprayer does not have it. The assembled set is therefore intended for cosmetic use.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial toners and hydrosols – low-viscosity water-based products are applied evenly with a sprayer, without fingers touching the contents.
  • Hair sprays and refreshing mists – the 50 ml volume suits samples, travel packs or testing a new formulation.
  • Alcohol-based sprays – for example hand sprays or solutions containing alcohol that need protection from light.
  • Fragranced water mists – at a low concentration of fragrance ingredients, when the contents are well dissolved or solubilised.

Thicker emulsions, gels and pure oils do not belong in this sprayer. The mechanism is designed for a thin, water-based or alcohol-based filling. With thicker contents no mist forms, the sprayer produces a jet and the nozzle clogs. For such products a pump or a cap with dropper insert is more suitable.

Filling and dispensing

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, that is, to 50 ml. The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The total volume up to the rim of the neck is larger. This difference forms a reserve for the sprayer’s dip tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents will overflow when the sprayer is screwed on.

One press releases approximately 0.14 ml of contents. From this value you can estimate how many applications the pack will last, and it also helps when designing the dispensing of the product.

Before the first filling, press the sprayer several times without liquid over a sink. This confirms that the mechanism draws and that the nozzle is not blocked, before the finished product is filled in.

Good to know

Before use, we recommend washing the bottle and the sprayer, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting them dry completely. Residual water would dilute the contents, which is undesirable especially for water-based products, which must be preserved.

The PET bottle withstands common cosmetic formulations, including water-based and alcohol solutions. With undiluted essential oils and solvents, we recommend testing compatibility with the plastic on a small amount first, because some ingredients may attack the material over time or change its appearance. Hot fills do not belong in PET; let the contents cool to room temperature before filling.

The sprayer is not intended for contents with undissolved particles, scrub particles or thicker emulsions. Such fillings clog the nozzle and put the mechanism out of action.

After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle and the sprayer can be reused. For recycling, the PET bottle and the PP sprayer are sorted as plastic. Separate the sprayer from the bottle before disposal.

Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you combine a bottle and closure yourself, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber plastic bottle with sprayer protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber tint of the PET reduces the penetration of light and slows down changes in the contents that light triggers. It does not provide complete darkness, however, so still keep light-sensitive products out of direct sunlight. For hydrosols with fragrance ingredients or plant extracts, dark packaging is a better choice than clear.
Can I fill the plastic bottle with sprayer with an alcohol-based spray?
Yes, the PET bottle and the PP sprayer are commonly used for alcohol-based sprays and solutions containing ethanol. With a high alcohol content combined with essential oils or solvents, we recommend testing on a small amount first and observing the bottle for several days. If the plastic does not change shape or appearance, the formulation is suitable for the packaging.
Is the 50 ml bottle with sprayer set suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. The amber PET bottle alone has the certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer does not have this declaration. The assembled set is therefore intended for cosmetic products, for which both components are suitable.
How much does the 50 ml bottle with sprayer hold?
The bottle is designed for 50 ml of contents, which is its nominal volume. The physical volume up to the rim of the neck is larger, and this space remains free for the sprayer’s dip tube and the expansion of the filling. Fill to the nominal volume. Overfilling leads to overflow when the closure is screwed on and to poorer tightness.
How do I clean the plastic bottle with sprayer before reuse?
Wash the bottle and the sprayer in warm water with washing-up liquid, rinse with clean water and disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Spray clean water through the sprayer several times and then alcohol, so that the tube and the nozzle are cleaned. Let both parts dry completely, and only then fill in the new product.
